National Day/ Advisory Council’s Achievements During 44th Ordinary Session

Doha, – The Advisory (Shura) Council has made numerous achievements during its 44th ordinary session, in respect of draft laws and proposals discussed as well as the general debate requests.

The Council has discussed a host of draft laws, including a draft law on marine means, a draft law on combating the smuggling of petroleum products and the illicit transaction in them, a draft law on the control of tobacco and its derivatives, a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (8) of 2002 on the organization of the work of trade agents, a draft law on biological weapons and the human resources law, and a draft law on protection of personal data privacy.

The Council in its 44th Ordinary session also discussed a draft law on mental health, a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (18) of 1997 on the Qatari Scout and Guide Association, a draft law on civil decorations, a draft law on the Official Gazette, a draft law amending some provisions of the decree-law No. (15) of 2007 on regulating the marketing and sale of products subjected to government regulation outside Qatar, a draft law on the Audit Bureau and a draft law amending some provisions of law No. (9) of 1979 on documentation as well as a draft law on amending some provisions of the decree-law No. (31) of 2006 on the military service.

The Council also discussed a proposal to develop services in villages throughout the country.

The general debate requests included a public debate on the surge in real estate lease rates, a debate on the delay in the issuing of licenses for facilities in the General Administration of Civil Defense as well as a request for a general discussion on business and sales through websites in the State of Qatar.
