Seven Arrested As Police Foil Planned Terror Attack in Melbourne

Sidney, Three people have been charged for allegedly planning a terrorist attack in Melbourne, which police say could have occurred on Christmas Day and which Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Victoria Police were involved in joint counter-terrorism raids in Melbourne’s north-west overnight where five search warrants were executed.

The raids, as part of Operation Kastelholm, also involved the Australian Federal Police (AFP), and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO).

Seven people were arrested and authorities say they believe a group of four men were intending to carry out an attack in Melbourne’s CBD involving explosives and other weapons, possibly on Christmas Day.

Of the seven arrested, five remain in custody and are being questioned.
