Wall Street Closing

New York, 29 Rabi’I, 1438,December 28, 2016, SPA — U.S. stocks rose slightly Tuesday, opening the final trading week of 2016 on a positive note, with the Nasdaq index setting a closing record high.
The U.S. dollar was little changed versus other major currencies. Gold futures for February delivery rose $5.20 to $1,138.80 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose 88 cents, or 1.7 percent, to $53.90 a barrel.
The Dow Jones industrial average was little changed, rising 11.23 to 19,945.04, again missing the key psychological level of 20,000. Twenty-one of the index’s 30 components rose, though none gained more than 0.6 percent. Nike lost 1.2 percent, leading nine declining stocks.
The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 5.09, or 0.2 percent, to 2,268.88. ercent.
