Qatari Minister of Economy Meets Argentina’s Minister, Executive Director of International Trade Centre /ITC/

Davos, Qatar’s Minister Economy and Commerce HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani met here today separately on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum “Davos”, with Minister of State for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina Horacio R. and Ms Arancha Gonzalez, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC).

During the two meetings, they reviewed bilateral relations between Qatar and Argentina, as well as between the State of Qatar and the International Trade Centre and discussed means of enhancing joint cooperation, especially in economic, trade and investment fields. They also exchanged views on topics on the forum’s agenda.

It is to be mentioned that the trade exchange between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Argentina totaled in 2015 about QR 661 million . Argentina is a trading partner, No. 38 of the State of Qatar, with exports in 2015 of nearly QR 537 million, as the value of imports amounted to QR 124.2 million .

The State of Qatar is linked with the Republic of Argentina with a number of agreements the most important of which were the agreement of encouragement and protection of mutual investments between the governments of the two countries, and the Convention on the establishment of a joint commercial ,ministerial committee, an agreement on economic and trade cooperation between the two countries .. as well as agreements for the development and implementation of integration projects in the fields of energy, cultural, scientific cooperation, air transportation and a cooperation agreement in the field of sports.

The World Economic “Davos” forum, being held under the slogan “responsive and responsible leadership,” where this year addresses a number of key points, including international cooperation, creation of a common identity and the reform of capitalism and the fourth industrial revolution.

It is also highlighting the many important issues including the formation of future consumption, and the rules of the future of the digital economy, and shaping the future of economic growth, and the future of education in serving industrial and economic developments , and the future of energy, the security of the environment and natural resources.
