Qatar to Participate in Arab Table Tennis Championship

Doha, August 19 (QNA) – The Qatar Table Tennis team will participate in the Arab Table Tennis Championship to be held in Kuwait from 13 to 23 September 2012.
 The team will leave for Vienna on Tuesday for an international training camp until 06 September 2012. The Qatari squad include Ahmad Khalil, Walid Nasser, Fahad Al-Mughni, Jassim Al-Sunaidi, Abdulrahman Al-Najjar, Mohammad Al-Kerbi, Mohammad Al-Sulaiti, Mohammad Al-Hadad and Mohammad Khalil. (QNA)

Qatar Basketball Team Heads Lithuania For Training Camp

Doha, August 19 (QNA) – The Qatar s Basketball team will leave to Lithuania on Tuesday for an international training camp in preparation for the 4th FIBA Asia Cup to be held in Japan from 14 to 22 September .
 The Qatari squad include Hashim Zaidan, Yasin Esmail, Dawoud Mousa, Erfan Saeed, Khalid Sulaiman, Saeed Kotar, Marzouq Bu Sabar, Ali Turky, Baker Mohammad, Mohammad Salim, abdullah Shaher, Mansour Al-Hadari, Omer Abdulqader, Ali Al-Kuwari, Mohammad Yousef, Khalid Adam, Mohammad Abdullah, Abdulrhaman Saad, Mohammad Al-Sayed, Showqi Abdulhamid and Mohammad Abdulmuti.
 The Qatari team will compete in Group (B) alongside Iran, Chinese Taipei and Japan, while Group included Lebanon, China and Macau.
The 4th FIBA Asia Cup is the qualifying event for the 27th FIBA Asia Championship in 2013, which in turn will be the qualifying event for 2014 FIBA World Cup.
 The winners of the 4th IBA Asia Cup will automatically qualify for the 27th FIBA Asia Championship in 2013. The top teams at the 4th FIBA Asia Cup will earn additional berths for their respective FIBA Asia sub zones. (QNA)

HH the Emir Performs Eid Al Fitr Prayer

Doha, August 19 (QNA) – HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani performed early Sunday morning eid al fitr prayer with sons of his  faithful and loyal people at Al Wajbah praying ground .
    HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani , HH the Emir’s Personal Representative HH Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and HH the Emir’s Private Advisor Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani also shared in performing eid al fitr  prayer.
     A number of their excellencies Sheikhs and the ministers also joined the prayer.

Reverent Sheikh Dr. Thaqeel Sayer Ash-Shammari , the Judge at the Cassation Court and member of the Supreme Judicial Council who led the worshippers, delivered the Eid Al Fitr oration in which he thanked Allal the Almighty for enabling us to perform and complete the prayer and fasting of the holy month of Ramadan .
    Sheikh Ash-Shammari has urged the muslims to benefit from such a blessed occasion of Eid Al Fitr(lesser bairam) and do much of worshipings and obey and connect our kinship relations and reminded the muslims of the blessing of safety and security which lead to welfare and growth .
     Ash-Shammari also urged the muslims to cooperate among themselves and be beneficent and benevolent to each other.
     The Eid Al Fitr praying congregations performed Eid Al Fitr in mosques and the prayer grounds and yards across the country.. (qna)

UAQ Ruler receives more Eid Al Fitr well wishers

Umm al-Qaiwain: H. H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council member and ruler of Umm al-Qaiwain received here today at his Palace in the presence of H. H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, crown prince of Umm al-Qaiwain, well wishers who called to greet him.

The UAQ Ruler received Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education, Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Youth, Culture and Community Development, diplomats, businesspersons, heads of departments, dignitaries, citizens and representatives of Arab and Muslim communities.

Second phase of woman teaching assistants project for those with Down Sendrome in public schools completed

Sharjah: The second phase of the woman teaching assistants project for those with Down syndrome in the public schools has been completed. The project is implemented by Emirates Down Syndrome Association in collaboration with the British University in Dubai.

Emirates Foundation for Youth Development in Abu Dhabi has pledged to continue its support to the programme, which was implemented by the British University in Dubai and four sub-centres in Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Dibba.

Sonia Al Hashemi, chairperson of Emirates Down syndrome Association said that the training programme for the woman teaching assistants of people with Down syndrome in public schools, follows the directives by the leadership to adopt all the ways to overcome difficulties that face children with Down syndrome.

She added that the training programme has contributed to the preparation and rehabilitation of a group of female citizens, who are high school graduates to join the labour market and help people with Down syndrome to merge in public schools to learn naturally with their peers.

Al Hashimi emphasised that the cooperation among the Ministries of Education, Social Affairs and the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, strengthens the role of the association in facilitating the incorporation of those with Down syndrome into the public schools, as well as in the exchange of experiences and studies in this respect.

For her part, Dr. Eman Gaad, Dean of Faculty of Education, British University in Dubai, who heads the team implementing the programme, and an advisor to UNESCO, said that the project is based on achieving the educational objectives regarding the incorporation of people with Down syndrome, and creation of all necessary means to them in the school community to cope with their peers.

She added that the project is an investment of local human capacities of unemployed high school and university graduates.

The British University in Dubai has completed the implementation of the theoretical part of the project in the first and second phases in all centres nationwide.
