Niger’s President Meets Qatar’s Ambassador to Algeria

Niamey, September 14 (QNA) – Niger’s President Mahamadou Issoufou received here on Friday HE Qatar’s ambassador to Algeria Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Humaidi and the economic delegation accompanying him.
HE the Qatari diplomat conveyed during the meeting greetings of HH the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassi Bin Jabor Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and their best wishes for further growth and progress to the people of Niger.
In turn, President Mahamadou Issoufou, assigned HE Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Humaidi to convey his greetings to HH the Emir and HH the Heir Apparent and his best wishes for more progress, prosperity and welfare to the Qatari people.
Talks during the meeting also touched on bilateral relations and means of bolstering them especially in the economic and investment fields.
HE the Qatari ambassador and his accompanying delegation later conferred separately with each of Niger’s Minister of Trade and Private Sector Development Saleh Saeed , Minister of Mines and Industry Omar Hamidou Tchiana and Minister of Energy and Petroleum Resources Foumakoye Gado. (QNA)

Qatar Calls for UN Protection of Human Rights Defenders

Geneva, September 14 (QNA) – The State of Qatar expressed concern over all forms of harassment, intimidation and reprisals against groups and individuals that cooperated with the United Nations or human rights mechanisms, saying that the protection and safety of concerned individuals should be a top priority.
Addressing the panel discussion on “intimidation or reprisals against individuals and groups who cooperate with the United Nations, its representatives and mechanisms in the field of human rights” held here on the sidelines of the 21st session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Qatar’s Second Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Al Muhanadi al Hamadi said that human rights defenders needed protection provided by the United Nations and the international community, and that everyone had the right to legitimately protest violations of their human rights.
He recalled in this context the Resolution No. 53/144 of 9 December 1998, by which the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Right and Responsibility of Individuals, Groups and Organs of Society to Promote and Protect Universally Recognized Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms annexed to that resolution, and reiterating the importance of the Declaration and its wide dissemination.  (QNA)

Zayed Foundation completes receiving Hajj applications

Abu Dhabi: The Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has received applications under its annual programme to sponsor 600 UAE nationals and 400 other people from outside the country for this year Hajj.

Ateeq Ahmad Al Muhairi, the Foundation’s Head of Fixed Programs Department announced three-day time limit for sending applications ended today in Abu Dhabi.

The citizens from the emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Qaiwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Western Region and Al Ain sent applications under a specific programme of the foundation.

He explained that the relevant committees have received about 900 applications from all over the state including 190 from Abu Dhabi, while the number of applications of citizens in the emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah and in the western region and the city of Al Ain were 769.

He added that the Hajj committee has begun sorting out these applications.

ADM launches inspection campaigns of worker’s temporary residential communities

Abu Dhabi: The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Division, Town Planning Sector at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, has launched inspection campaigns of a number of residential complexes of workers employed in the building ‘&’ construction sector within the conurbation of Abu Dhabi city to verify the implementation of HSE standards ‘&’ measures in these residential communities.

“These inspection tours are made in line with the strategy of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City aimed at implementing the Decision No (41) mandating the implementation of HSE standards at all construction sites and affiliated camps, including workers quarters and mass residential communities,” said Engineer Salah Awad Al Sarraj, Acting Executive Director of Town Planning Sector. “The Municipality is keen on ensuring a safe, stable and healthy living environment for workers, and maintaining their physical ‘&’ health safety,” he added.

He called upon all consultancy offices, contractors and workers at site to give serious consideration to this aspect in order to realize the highest safety standards and eliminate the hazards associated with the practicing of these occupations and professions.

Engineer Abdul Aziz Zurub, Director of Health, Safety and Environment, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, said: “These inspection campaigns echo the Municipality’s commitment to enhancing and improving the residential environment of construction workers to make it safe and healthy.”

DM signs MoU with MRHE

Dubai: The Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Est. services will now be available through Dubai Municipality services centres after the two parties recently signed a service Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Eng. Abdullah Rafia, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality and Sami Abdullah Qarqash, Chief Executive Officer of MRHE signed the MoU.

The agreement would enable Dubai Municipality to provide some services of MRHE through its employees and vice versa, complementing each other in providing government services such as application for residential plots and housing loan and its updating.

The agreement stipulates that DM is obliged to provide administrative and operational support for the services rendered and will supply required human resources. MRHE will be taking care of the training of the concerned employees of DM providing them the access to the service software, Rafia said.

Sami Abdullah said MRHE will appoint two of its employees as coordinators to support the DM staff and will evaluate the service for the first month of agreement.

DM will not assume any responsibility to receive payments for MRHE services. The service promotion will be the joint responsibilities of both bodies.

The period of MoU will be for two years and will be renewed automatically as long as the services are rendered successfully. A committee will be formed for the follow up of the execution of the articles.
