HH Sheikha Moza Attends Dinner Party

Amsterdam, October 03 (QNA) – HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser attended today a dinner party hosted by Princess Maxima, wife of the Netherlands Crown Prince in the  presence of  Queen Beatrix  of  the Netherlands and the Dutch Crown Prince William Alexander, at the Royal Palace in Wassenaar.
The function was attended by a number of their Excellencies members of the delegation accompanying HH Sheikha Moza.
It was also attended by a number of senior officials and Senate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
HH Sheikha Moza arrived in the Netherlands capital, Amsterdam earlier in the day on  a two-day visit.(QNA)

HE the Prime Minister Presides Over the Cabinet Weekly Meeting

Doha, October 03 (QNA) – HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani , presided over  the weekly regular cabinet meeting held on Wednesday at its Emiri Diwan premises.
Following the meeting, Deputy Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, HE Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, stated the following:
The cabinet considered topics tabled on the agenda as follows:
First: Taking the necessary measures to issue a cabinet draft decision for establishing the coordinating committee for services and utilities.
Second: Approving proposal of the Ministry of the Interior on forming an adhoc panel to study the sponsorship issue. Third: Then the cabinet reviewed the two following topics and adopted the relevant decision:
A- The letter of the Supreme Council For Family Affairs (SCFA) on a draft law concerning the elderly’s rights.
B- The letter of HE the Minister of Social Affairs who is also Acting Minister of Labour concerning the re-considering the proposals of the Labour Ministry related to qualifying , the rehabilitation and training the qatari citizens seeking jobs.
Fourth: Taking the necessary measures for endorsing the following:
A- An agreement for economic, trade and technical cooperation between the governments of the State of Qatar and Democratic Republic of East Timor.
B- An agreement on encouragement and reciprocal protection of investments between the governments of the State of Qatar and Democratic Republic of East Timor.(QNA)

NHRC Secretary General Meets with Amnesty International Delegation

Doha, October 03 (QNA) – Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar (NHRC) Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah met today at the Committee’s headquarters with  a delegation from Amnesty International, which visited the Commission to identify activities and discuss a number of topics related to its activities on the local level as well as to identify development of human rights-related legislation in the State of Qatar.
During the meeting the  Committee’s Secretary-General said the Committee is preparing two reports, one bi-annual and the other a comprehensive annual report submitted to the cabinet to brief the Ministers  on  the Committee’s vision regarding the human rights situation in the State of Qatar.
 She explained  that the Committee  receives petitions on human rights from both citizens and residents, advise them of their rights or direct them to the competent authorities to resolve their problems.
She added that the committee pay special attention to  human rights education, explaining that the Committee  has a special department concerned with human rights education which organizes training courses, workshops, conferences and awareness campaigns for different segments of society.(QNA)

COP18/CMP8 Service Agreements Signed

Doha, October 03 (QNA) -The organisers of COP18/CMP8 Doha, the United Nations, Climate Change Conference 2012, signed agreements today with four key groups that will provide services to the event, which takes place between November 26 and December 7.  Under the auspices of HE Abdulla Bin Hamad Al-Attiya, the President of COP18/CMP8 Doha and the Chairman of the Higher Organizing committee, a signing ceremony took place on behalf of the Higher Organizing Committee, represented by HE Abdulaziz Bin Ahmed Al-Malki and HE Fahad Bin Mohammed Al-Attiya.
HE Al-Malki, who is the General Coordinator for COP18/CMP8 Doha and the Chairman of the Executive organizing Committee, signed an insurance agreement with Al-Koot Insurance and Reinsurance Company, represented by Mr. Ahmed Rafee Al-Emadi, its Chief Executive Officer.  Al-Koot will provide contingency and even liability insurance.  HE Al Malki also signed a transport agreement with Mowasalat, represented by HE Jassem Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, the Chairman and Managing Director of the company.  Mowasalat will provide transport services to conference visitors, offering more than 400 buses, including electric, hybrid and gas-powered buses.
HE Al-Malki said ‘We are very pleased to announce our landmark agreements with these four parties today.  We are sure that these companies, each with a strong track record in their sectors, will help to ensure that COP18/CMP8 Doha is a logistical success’.

HE Al-Attiya, who is a member of the Higher Organising Committee and the Chairman of the Organising Sub-Committee for COP18/CMP8 Doha, signed an agreement with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), represented by Dr. Abdulwahab Al Musleh, the Deputy Chief Medical, Academic and Research Affairs for CIS and Mr. Mohamed Mubarak Al Noaimi, Executive Director for Corporate Communications.
Under the agreement all dignitaries, delegates, VIPs, staff, media representatives, visitors and workforce teams taking part in the conference will receive free access to emergency treatment during their stay in Doha.  As part of the agreement, conference accreditation cards will be considered as health cards that grant access to this service.
HE Al-Attiya also signed an agreement with IFP Qatar, represented by Mr. George Ayache, the company’s General Manager.  IFP Qatar will be organizing the Qatar Sustainability Expo, an exhibition showcasing the brightest innovators and leaders on environmental issues in the region.  The Expo, running alongside COP18/CMP8 Doha and taking place at the Doha Exhibition Center, will provide visitors and members of the international press with an opportunity to explore programmes, projects and companies that are leading the way in sustainable environmental initiatives, climate adaptation and mitigation.  HE Al-Attiya said ‘Having the best support possible from these leading companies is yet one more step to making sure the conference has access to the best facilities and services available’.
COP18/CMP8 Doha is the 18th annual meeting of the parties involved in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).  It will take place in Doha, Qatar, between November 26 and December 7, 2012. 
The conference will be attended by 194 countries, and  more than 17,000 visitors including more than 7,000 members of non-governmental organizations, 1,500 members of the media and 90 television stations. 
COP18/CMP8 Doha will assess progress in climate change policy and offer a platform for members of the parties to adopt resolutions. (END)

صاحبة السمو تحضر حفل عشاء أقامته حرم ولي العهد الهولندي

أمستردام في 03 اكتوبر /قنا/ حضرت صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر مساء اليوم حفل العشاء الذي أقامته الأميرة ماكسيما حرم ولي العهد الهولندي بحضور الملكة بياتركس ملكة هولندا والأمير وليم اليكساندر ولي العهد وذلك بالقصر الملكي بمدينة فاسنار.
حضر الحفل عدد من أصحاب السعادة اعضاء الوفد المرافق لسموها .
وحضره من الجانب الهولندي عدد من كبار المسؤولين والاعيان بالمملكة الهولندية.
وكانت صاحبة السمو قد وصلت الى العاصمة الهولندية امستردام في وقت سابق اليوم في زيارة تستغرق يومين.

Qatari Premier Receives Phone Call from Egyptian Counterpart

Doha, October 03 (QNA) – Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani received today a telephone call from Egypt’s Prime Minister Hisham Qandil.
Bilateral ties and means to enhance them in all fields were discussed during the call. (QNA)
