Minister of Culture Inaugurates Arab Federation for Libraries & Information Conference

Doha, November 18 (QNA) – Under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdul-Aziz al-Kuwari, inaugurated on Sunday the Arab Federation for Libraries & Information (AFLI) 23rd annual conference.
 The three-day event held in the Hilton Doha, is organized in collaboration of the Ministry of Culture under the theme of ‘ Government; Society and Integration in the Arab Knowledge Arab Societies Building.’
 In his opening speech, Dr. Kuwari said that this conference coincides with marking 50 years for the establishment of Qatar National Library (QNL) and the ongoing preparations for the new library, which represent an additional serious step towards establishing Qatar’s knowledge-based society as one of the main four pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.
 Knowledge has become a barometer of measuring societies’ development and it empowers its holders to extend their political, social and cultural influence, the Minister said, urging the Arab world to embrace the rapid pace of development brought by knowledge.  (QNA)
