Real Madrid in crisis after derby defeat against Atletico

Madrid, Jumada I 18, 1437, Feb 27, 2016, SPA — Real Madrid entered a deep crisis Saturday with a 1-0 home defeat against neighbours Atletico, on a goal from Antoine Griezmann, dpa reported.
The France forward ended his six-match scoring drought in the 53rd minute after a clever combination down the left with Filipe Luis.
Real were completely shut out by a formidable Atletico defence that has not conceded in four matches.
Atletico are now four points above third-placed Real but five behind rampant leaders Barcelona, who host Sevilla Sunday.
Real were without injury victims Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Pepe, and Karim Benzema had to leave the fray at half-time with muscle problems.
“I don’t want to disrespect the players who turned out today, but it was difficult to do well without the likes of Benzema, Bale and Marcelo,” Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo said.
The Portugal striker then raised eyebrows by saying: “If everyone was at the same level as me, then we would be top of the league.”
However, Ronaldo again failed to score in a big match, despite having four clear chances to equalize in the second half.
Real had a good penalty claim turned down 10 minutes from time when Gabi pulled down left-back Danilo.
