England fight back to claim remarkable victory over Germany 3 Berlin

Half chances continued to be spurned as Marco Reus and Alli missed the target before Gomez had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside when he headed in Khedira’s cross.
The opening goal was delayed to the 43rd minute as Kroos’ powerful drive from 25 yards snuck inside the post with keeper Jack Butland, who was then stretched off, slow to react. He appeared to have suffered an injury making a clearance just before conceding.
With first-choice keeper Joe Hart not in the squad with injury, Fraser Forster took to the field and tipped over a bouncing free kick from Reus soon after the restart.
England missed a glorious chance to level when Emre Can, deployed at right-back rather than his customary midfield, made an error in shepherding the ball out of play but Jordan Henderson’s resulting shot was deflected wide.
That miss proved costly as Khedira again chipped onto the head of Gomez in the 57th and this time there was no offside flag to deny the forward his first Germany goal since Euro 2012.
“I have the power again, and now I have the fitness,” Gomez said “I am working hard, and I want to see if I can help the team.”
But with the match seemingly settled, England promptly fought back to maintain their long-standing record of never having lost a match in Berlin.

Canadian man arrested under anti-terrorism law

TORONTO, Jumada II 17, 1437, Mar 26, 2016, SPA — A Canadian man has been arrested under the country’s anti-terrorism law, police said on Saturday, Reuters reported.

Kevin Omar Mohamed, 23, was taken into custody with a “preventive arrest” under the Fear of Terrorism Offence section of the law, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.

Police said the arrest is not linked to the recent attacks in Brussels and there was no indication of a domestic attack.

Mohamed’s lawyer, Anser Farooq, said Mohamed was arrested on Friday and appeared in court in Brampton, west of Toronto, on Saturday. Farooq says the arrest involved “a number of” terrorism offences but that his client was not charged with any.

KABUL, Jumada II 17, 1437, Mar 26, 2016, SPA — Afghanistan’s top electoral official resigned on Saturday, potentially complicating efforts to organise parliamentary elections for this autumn.

Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani, who has repeatedly accused the government of meddling in the electoral process, stepped down two years after himself being accused of failing to prevent fraud in a bitterly disputed presidential ballot.

A spokesman for the Independent Election Commission, which Nuristani chaired, said he had resigned in the “national interest”, declining to comment further.

President Afghan Ghani accepted his resignation, the presidential palace said on its Twitter feed.

Efforts by Reuters to contact Nuristani were not successful.

Spain Police Busts Gang Who Used Helicopters to Fly in Drugs

Madrid, Jumada II 17, 1437, Mar 26, 2016, SPA — Spanish police say they have busted a drug-smuggling ring and arrested 20 people from four countries on suspicion they were using helicopters to bring hashish from Morocco into Spain.
It was later discovered that the pilot was serving a prison sentence and using weekend furloughs to fly in drugs hauls, AP quoted a police statement as saying.
The investigation began when detectives found out the gang was planning a landing near southwestern Estepona. Agents moved in and arrested the pilot and others on March 6.
They later raided 14 houses in locations including Madrid, Malaga, Seville and Cadiz, arresting suspects of Spanish, Moroccan, Romanian and Ecuadorian nationalities, Saturday’s statement says.
Two helicopters, a truck, 1,500 kilograms (1.7 tons) of hashish, a marijuana plantation and 220,000 euros ($245,695) were also seized, the statement says.
