Governor of Riyadh Region patronizes mass wedding ceremony for persons with disabled movement

Riyadh, Jumada II 20, 1437, March 29, 2016, SPA — Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, patronized on Monday the 6th mass wedding ceremony held by of the Society of Adults with Disabled Movement “Harkiah”, at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh.

In his speech on this occasion, the Governor of Riyadh Region confirmed that the government values citizens with disabilities and spares no effort to care for them.

The ceremony was attended by Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer and a number of officials.

UNITED NATIONS, Jumada II 20, 1437, March 29, 2016, SPA — A United Nations committee has started work on an international treaty that could protect everything from threatened leatherback sea turtles to deep sea corals thousands of years old in international waters, according to AP.

A preparatory committee has begun working on what will eventually become a legally binding document under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It will govern the conservation and use of plants and animals in the 64 percent of the world’s ocean waters that do not come under national jurisdictions.

The session, which started Monday, will take place at the U.N. over the next two weeks. The committee will present a report to the U.N. General Assembly by the end of 2017.

Riyadh, Jumada II 20, 1437, March 29, 2016, SPA — On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, will inaugurate on Tuesday a number of new health projects in Jeddah.

This was stated by Minister of Health Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh, noting that these projects include the inauguration of the first phase of King Abdullah Medical Complex in north Jeddah and the first phase of East Jeddah Hospital, in addition to the inauguration of 27 primary health care centers in Jeddah Province and its centers.

Riyadh, Jumada II 19, 1437, March 28, 2016, SPA — Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, met at the Al-Yamamah Palace here on Monday with British Secretary of State for Defence Michael Fallon.

During the meeting, they discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of defense, in addition to reviewing the latest developments of regional and international situations and efforts exerted towards them, including the fight against terrorism and extremism.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials.

Riyadh, Jumada II 19, 1437, March 28, 2016, SPA — Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and the Deputy Crown Prince for the cabinet’s approval on Monday of adding an amount of SR10,000,000 Saudi Riyals annually to the Ministry of Social Affairs’ budget, for a period of three years, for disbursement on awareness programs and courses for those who are planning to get married.

The Minister of Social Affairs hailed the unlimited support for Saudi youth in all fields by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the council discussed a number of visions and views about a range of economic and development issues and initiatives toward them. The council took the necessary recommendations about them.

WASHINGTON, Jumada II 19, 1437, March 28, 2016, SPA — Nigeria should ensure the value of its naira currency versus the U.S. dollar is more “realistic” and the United States will raise the issue in talks with Nigerian government officials this week, a senior U.S. diplomat said on Monday, according to Reuters.

“Our recommendation is, and we will have discussions about it …, that they should look at the exchange rate and try to make the exchange rate more realistic to what the value of the naira is to the dollar,” U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Africa Linda Thomas-Greenfield told an audience in Washington.
