Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize Council for Water Announces Winners of Its 7th Session 2 Riyadh

As for the four specialized awards of 500,000 Saudi Riyals each, the surface water’s award was won by Dr. Gary Parker of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, United States of America in recognition of his innovative work to clarify the complex characteristics of the winding rivers and some of geomorphologic manifestations, and mechanism of sediment tranfer as well as changes in the forms of these rivers and their flood plains as a result of the movement of water and the subsequent process of erosion and the developing of new forms of geomorphology through sediment tranfer.
On groundwater Award, it was won by Dr. Tissa H. Illangasekare from Colorado School of Mines, USA in recognition of his improvement of the basic concepts of the movement of fluid flow and what they carry of chemical pollutants and the way of their travel over the seeping aquifers by performing experiences and building advanced models, allowing the possibility of building good outlook on movement of chemical contaminants in the various hydrological systems.
