Doha, – The 20th meeting of the Gulf Standards Committee for Oil and Gas Industry in GCC Countries will kick off here on Monday.
The three-day meeting held by the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QS) in cooperation with the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) will discuss the challenges and difficulties facing oil and gas companies in the field of specifications and propose the appropriate solutions.
Participants will be also briefed on the current status of the Committee’s plan of projects for the year 2017; deferred projects and projects submitted to the Committee for adoption as GCC standards, a proposal of a mechanism for projects in the Member States for the 2018 plan and the working groups and sub-committees’ reports.
The meeting will also discuss a training plan aimed at upgrading the sector of oil and gas industry in cooperation with GSO, which seeks to implement standards and international metrology as well as review and update them in order to improve GCC standards in oil and gas industries to become highly credible and live up to the international level.
The training plan also aims to prepare an advanced database for oil and gas industries in order to guarantee sustainable development of this sector and meet challenges relating to the increasing energy demand on the one hand; controlling costs and reducing environmental risks on the other hand.
