Doha, – Qatar’s General Authority of Customs (GAC) has participated in the 19th meeting of the Customs Union for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States, which was held recently in the Saudi Capital Riyadh.

The Qatari delegation to the meeting was headed by the Chairman of the General Authority of Customs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jammal.

GAC said in a statement today that the meeting discussed the memorandum of the Secretariat on the follow-up to the implementation of the decisions of the Customs Union at its previous meeting, and the report of the Secretariat on the direct automatic transfer of customs duties.

The meeting also discussed the minutes of the meeting of the committee on the Harmonized System for the classification of goods in the GCC countries and the minutes of the committee of customs and computer procedures. The meeting also dealt with the follow-up of the results of the first and second visits to the customs outlets, qualified to activate the role of the first entry ports in the GCC countries.

These meetings contribute to the promotion of customs work among the GCC countries and improve their efficiency, which is reflected positively on the facilitation of trade and the flow of goods between Member States. (QNA)
