SYSTEM FOR TEMPORARY IMPORT OF GOODS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN AUGUST

The official implementation of ATA Carnet, a system allowing the temporary import of goods to Qatar, in coordination with the General Authority of Customs (GAC), will take place on August 1, Qatar Chamber (QC) announced yesterday at a press conference.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, QC Chairman, said that the new system is considered an international customs document that allows the duty-free and tax-free temporary import and export of goods for up to one year. The system is applied to the import-export goods that will return to the country of origin within the period that is approved by the concerned customs authorities.

It will also strengthen its preparations for hosting the 2022 World Cup and the other major international conferences and exhibitions, he added.
