Qatar to participate in Shooting Competitions today

Jakarta, Qatari athletes Nasser Al Attiyah and Rashid Al Athba held their main training sessions on Saturday at the Olympic Games Shooting Stadium in the city of Palembang in Indonesia before taking part in the official competitions which will start on Saturday and continue until Sunday evening, with a round by day before the final round which will be held on Sunday evening at 4 pm Indonesia time 12 noon Doha time.

Al Attiyah and Al Athba enter the shooting competition with a great chance to achieve good results in the Asian Games. Qatari Nasser Al Attiyah is one of the most prominent candidates to give Qatar a medal in the competence of the Skeet shooting, as he become one of the well known names internationally.

In yasterdays competition, Ahmad Al Shammari finished 14th in the fast pistol competition with 284 points, while his teammate Mohammed Al Tamimi finished 20th with 276 points. It is expected that the second round of the competition will take place at 9 am on Saturday Indonesia time 5 am Doha time. The final will be at 3 o’clock in the afternoon of the same day.

In the women’s 10m pistol shooting competition, Dana Al Mubarak was ranked 16th with 566 points, followed by Nasra Mahmoud in 17th place with the same score.

On the other hand, the jumping-off competition, which is the most important at the equestrian level, will start today and Qatar will be represented by Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al-Thani, Bassem Hassan, Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, Salmin Al Suwaidi and Hamad Al Qadi.

On the other hand, Qatari Squash Star Abdulla Al Tamimi left the competition proudly from the quarterfinals after performing well against Malaysia’s Mohammed Adnan, one of the top two squash players in Asia, after losing two sets to three.
