UAE Ambassador participates in opening ICH training courses in Sudan

Hamad Mohammed Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Khartoum, attended today the opening training courses, held as part of a project to safeguard Sudan’s Intangible cultural heritage (ICH).

The project is funded by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT-Abu Dhabi) and implemented by the UNESCO Office in Khartoum as part of an agreement that covers eight countries, including Sudan. The courses are attended by 60 trainees from different states, government non-government organisations in Sudan.

In a speech at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Al Junaibi said the DCT-Abu Dhabi’s patronage of the project is part of the efforts to realise the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s vision to instill cultural and traditional values and to preserve them for the next generations.

Abdul Qadir Mohammed Hassan, Secretary General of Sudan’s National UNESCO Committee, praised the support given by the DCT-Abu Dhabi to the project and underlined UAE’s contribution to the establishment of the Khartoum University’s African and Asian Studies Institute.
