Minister of Transport Honors the Winner of WSA for Digital Innovation 2018

HE Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications, honored Qatari inventor Mohammed Al Jafairi, Qatar’s representative and winner of the World Summit Award (WSA) for Digital Innovation 2018, in the Inclusion and Empowerment category through his project “Deaf Pedia”.

Amid the Gulf Region, Qatar is the only country that obtained an award within the eight categories this year, as well as being one of the two Arab countries, alongside Lebanon, from all the participating Arab countries that won an award.

On this occasion, Al Suliti said: “The World Digital Innovation Award is an international standard to recognize the best local digital innovations that have a significant impact on the improvement of communities. We are proud of all the projects that have won the Summit Awards over the past years and we congratulate Mr. Mohammed Al Jafairi for winning the 2018 in the category of Inclusion and Empowerment and raise the name of Qatar high in this global forum”.

Deaf Pedia has been selected and nominated, as it’s an open-source sign language platform that can be used by any user around the world in any language and dialect, within 40 winners (5 for each category) of 430 nominations from 182 participating countries.
