The UAE Ambassador to Mexico Ahmed Hatem Al Menhali has met with Archbishop Franco Coppola, the Apostolic Nuncio to Mexico, at the Apostolic Nunciature ecclesiastical office of the Roman Catholic Church in Mexico City.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al Menhali said that the UAE has carried the torch of tolerance and coexistence for a long time by embracing a multi-spectral society, religions, and cultures from more than 200 nationalities, living in harmony, making it an example to be emulated in all parts of the world.
He pointed out that one of the most important pillars of Emirati culture is that it is based on renouncing violence, hatred, and extremism, which made coexistence a natural behaviour which confirms the success of the leadership in spreading true human values in the hearts of its citizens.
Ambassador Al Menhali also referred to the historic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the UAE, which witnessed the signing of the Human Fraternity Document, as well as laying the cornerstone of the Church of Saint Francis and Mosque of Grand Imam Ahmad el-Tayyeb in Abu Dhabi.
Coppola, in turn, said that the UAE deserves to be the capital of tolerance and coexistence. The visit of the Pope, he said, should be historical as it carries symbolism and a message of humanity and the beginning of an unprecedented page in the history of coexistence.
