18 trucks found dumping waste in non-designated areas

Al Sheehaniya Municipality has carried out a joint campaign to detect trucks that commit violations by dumping waste materials in non-designated areas.

The campaign was conducted in co-operation with the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), representatives from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) and the security departments concerned at the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The director of Al Sheehaniya Municipality, Jabir Hassan al-Jabir, supervised the campaign along with Saleh al-Kuwari, director of the MME?s Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves and Wildlife Department, and officials from the MoI and Lekhwiya.

The campaign resulted in the detection of 18 trucks that were disposing of waste materials randomly and dumping them in undesignated areas on a farm in Al Sheehaniya.

Besides, the company that had sold sand to the offenders to help them dump their garbage on the farm was identified.

Necessary legal procedures were initiated against all the violators involved.

Al-Jabir said the joint campaign came in implementation of the directives of HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie on the need to intensify inspection and control campaigns to detect all types of related violations and prevent such acts.

He added that the campaign in particular targets violations such as the dumping of waste materials on farms as this is considered an illegal action that violates the ownership conditions for these farms, which are meant for agricultural and farming purposes only.

The initiative is in accordance with Law No 10 of 1987 regarding public and private State property and Law No 18 of 2017 on public hygiene.
