Qatar participates in eighth Conference of Environment Ministers of Islamic World

The Minister of Municipality and Environment, H E Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, led the delegation of Qatar participating in the eighth Conference of Environment Ministers of the Islamic World, which kicked off yesterday at the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in Rabat, under a theme the role of cultural and religious factors in environmental protection and sustainable development.

The two-day conference will discuss the project of establishing the Islamic World Network for Environmental Action and Sustainable Development, the draft strategy for activating the role of cultural and religious factors in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development in the Islamic world, and a draft guidance document on enhancing the role of youth and civil society in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development.

The conference reviews ISESCO?s efforts in the field of environment and sustainable development between the seventh and eighth sessions of the Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers, the progress report on the establishment of the Islamic Academy for Environment and Sustainable Development. The conference will also review the report of the fifth meeting of the Islamic Executive Office for the Environment, which was held on April 20, 2019 at ISESCO Headquarters.

A report on the programme to celebrate environmentally friendly Islamic capitals, as well as the report of ISESCO on the operational plan for natural disaster risk reduction and management in member states.
