BIPD announces Political Development Forum speakers

Manama, BIPD: Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD)’s CEO Eman Faisal Janahi, has revealed the names of the speakers for the upcoming Political Development Forum, to be held on November 27.

Under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the event will be held under the slogan Bahrain: Belonging and Citizenship.

Janahi pointed out that the first session will tackle the theme of Citizenship, Family and Education and will be moderated by Ebrahim Al Tamimi, Director of Bahrain Program for Best Government Practices. The speakers at session are: Shaikha Mai bint Sulaiman Al Otaibi, Vice Chairwoman of BIPD Board of Trustees, and Chairwoman of Bahrain Bayan School, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Hidaya International Center, President of the World Council of Muslim Communities.

The session revolves around the role of the family in forming the values of loyalty and national belonging in the hearts of its children, and whether the school was able to play this pivotal role in the process of upbringing. How was the educational institution able to reconcile being the first official institution of national formation and being the second means – after the family �?

She said that the second session will be titled “Media and its role in promoting national belonging”, and will be moderated by Eman Marhoon � Media Person, speaking by Yousif Albinkhalil � Editor-in-Chief of Al-Watan newspaper, Salman Al-Dosseri – Journalist, and Dr. Barakat Al-Wegyan – Media Advisor and TV presenter.

They will highlight the media’s influence in the formation of the citizen’s patriotism, answering the following question: has media been able to prevent itself from being absorbed within the global media through setting clear boundaries around itself to promote the values of national belonging and the formation of a good citizen?

The third session, “Youth and Citizenship: Social Responsibility,” will be moderated by Haya Al-Qassim – Media Person, in which Omar Farooq – YouTuber and filmmaker, and Abdullah Al-Bandar – Presenter and Content Creator in Sky News Arabia, will answer a series of questions about the role of youth in the citizenship, how do youth have that role? What are their ways in promoting it? Did the Arab youth in general and the Gulf in particular express their patriotism? What are the signs? What are the most important challenges facing young people nowadays, and preventing them from playing a real role in establishing the values of belonging and national loyalty in the society?

The fourth and final session, will be moderated by Ali al-Olayani- Editor-in Chief and TV Presenter in MBC group, and entitled “Art: an influential national message”. The artist Hussain Al Jasmi – Ambassador Extraordinary Goodwill, will be a speaker in this session, and will talk about the impact of art in promoting the values Affiliation and citizenship, in light of the national song played a role in sparking enthusiasm in the hearts of the people, through positive messages aimed at the development of the values and citizenship in the hearts of members of society and its young generations.

She stressed that the consolidation of the national identity, which is based on the principles of belonging and citizenship, is one of the pillars of the democratic process in Bahrain, since the launch of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which has strengthened the Kingdom’s ability to overcome challenges and continue to achieve many democratic and developmental gains at various levels.
