MME, QPMC sign pact to treat, recycle construction waste

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has signed a cooperation agreement with Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) to enhance cooperation in the field of construction waste recycling at Rawdat Rashed landfill.

The agreement was signed by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the MME Safar Mubarak al Shafi and CEO of QPMC Essa Mohammed Ali Kaldari.

Shafi said the agreement aimed at treating and recycling the construction waste located at Rawdat Rashed landfill, as well as rehabilitating and fully cleaning it.

The move is part of the ministry?s plans towards achieving sustainability and preserving the environment, within the programmes of the public services affairs sector towards sorting and recycling all forms of various municipal waste, including construction waste.

Rawdat Rashed landfill has about 40 million tonnes of mixed construction waste with an area of about 7 million square metres, which contributes to many of the state?s construction needs.

The MME has plans and integrated programmes for the treatment of all forms of waste. (QNA)
