Standard Advisory (China) Ltd..

CIIE Logo

[INVNT GROUP]™ Launches Globally With Four-Discipline Offering To Help Brands Drive Deeper Audience Connections Around The World

INVNT Co-Founders Scott Cullather and Kristina McCoobery named President and CEO, and COO of [INVNT GROUP], and McCoobery steps into role of INVNT® CEO

NEW YORK, NY, June 30, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today marks the launch of [INVNT GROUP], THE GLOBAL BRANDSTORY PROJECT™, a portfolio of complementary disciplines that serve clients at every and any stage of the storytelling cycle, with an offering that enables organizations to weave a consistent, meaningful, well-articulated BrandStory through every interaction with their audiences in personalized, regionally specific ways irrespective of platform.

The portfolio, poised to expand and available to clients across the globe, currently comprises FOLK HERO, a modern brand strategy firm, HEVĒ, a branded content and digital marketing studio, INVNT, the global live brand storytelling agency™, and MEANING, a creative-led culture consultancy, which also launches today.

Scott Cullather, who as CEO of INVNT grew the company into an internationally recognized live brand storytelling agency, will assume the role of President and CEO of [INVNT GROUP], with a focus on continuing the growth and expansion of the Project, which has already seen integrated campaigns with globally renowned brands including General Motors, Merck, Genesis, PepsiCo and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

He explains: “Every organization we meet wants less layers, fewer gaps, less big agency red tape, and a higher caliber of consistent, integrated storytelling across every audience. So, we’re building and investing in an offering that enables forward-thinking brands everywhere to drive deeper relationships with the audiences that matter most to them, anywhere.

“[INVNT GROUP] is structured for clients to build a tailored solution where they can work with one, some or all of our disciplines as an integrated team,” adds Cullather.

[INVNT GROUP] is led by a Board of Directors in Cullather and McCoobery, Paul Blurton, Chief Creative Officer, Wolf Karbe, Chief Financial Officer, Jerry Deeney, Chief Client Officer, and John Wringe, Non-Executive Chairman. They have named Laura Roberts Managing Director for [INVNT GROUP] in APAC, overseeing its rapid expansion—an essential role as demand for the GROUP’s services continues to increase in the region.

In addition to her COO role, McCoobery has been named CEO of INVNT, the GROUP’s largest and most profitable business. She explains: “In recent years, we’ve seen an increase in brands and organizations wanting to connect with their audiences beyond the ‘big event,’ and seek out more integrated marketing and messaging strategies.

“With the launch of [INVNT GROUP], INVNT will continue to develop and deploy events that excite and unite physical and virtual audiences; and at the same time, provide clients with access to a much broader suite of services, ensuring consistency of BrandStory across the board.”

MEANING, led by newly appointed Chief Culture Officer, Allan Fair, who will also retain his role as Executive Creative Director at INVNT, is dedicated to helping companies win the war for talent and drive productivity through a more refined focus on culture, purpose and the shifts in consciousness required to lead people and teams today.

Fair says: “We’ve identified a gap in the marketplace and an opportunity when it comes to corporate culture services. While there will always be a market for traditional consulting, MEANING is a creative-driven, storytelling-based alternative designed to ignite a human connection to consultative data and metrics. This enables companies to define and breathe life into a purpose that moves stakeholders and employees to transcend the transactional, for the good of individuals, organizations, and even society.”

Cullather adds: “We’re working with some of the most progressive thought-leaders in the culture consulting space, merging behavioral theory with neuroscience and experience design to offer an IP that companies can leverage to transform themselves and lift their values and purpose off the page.”

Commenting on the future of the GROUP, he explains: “We have intentionally named [INVNT GROUP] The Global BrandStory Project because that’s exactly what it is: A Project that will evolve and take shape—becoming even more effective and robust in the process—over time. We will be announcing additional updates and strategic acquisitions in the coming weeks and months as we continue to expand the offering to ensure our clients are able to meet and move their audiences when it matters most, wherever and whenever that may be.”

Taliban Attempts to Reassure Pompeo Amid Russia ‘Bounty’ Controversy

ISLAMABAD – U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has asked the Taliban to uphold their commitment to cease attacks on American soldiers in Afghanistan.

Pompeo held a video conference with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the insurgent group’s deputy leader and chief of its political office in Qatar, amid growing demands from U.S. lawmakers for President Donald Trump to investigate news reports that Russia had offered bounties to Taliban fighters to kill American soldiers in Afghanistan.

“The secretary made clear the expectation for the Taliban to live up to their commitments, which include not attacking Americans,” State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said Tuesday.

For its part, the Taliban said Baradar has reassured Pompeo the Islamist insurgency does not allow anyone to use Afghanistan to plot attacks against other nations.

“It is not true. We have already rejected that,” Taliban political spokesman Suhail Shaheen told VOA from the Qatari capital of Doha when asked whether Pompeo raised the issue of alleged Russia-Taliban collaboration.

“Baradar once again reiterated that the Taliban are committed not to allow anyone to use Afghan soil (to launch attacks) against any country,” Shaheen said.

In an exclusive story published last week, The New York Times, while citing anonymous officials, reported that Trump had been told about the alleged Russian bounties but did nothing in response.

Trump has denied getting any such briefing.

“Intelligence is verified before it reaches the president of the United States. And in this case, it was not verified,’’ White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Monday when reporters asked why the president was not informed.

Shaheen said that Baradar also reaffirmed his group’s commitment to a peace-building agreement with Washington, which requires all U.S. and coalition forces to withdraw from Afghanistan by July 2021 in return for Taliban counterterrorism guarantees.

The pact, signed in Doha on Feb. 29, also binds the insurgents to seek political reconciliation with other Afghan groups through direct negotiations to bring an end to decades of hostilities in the country.

However, increasing battlefield violence and a controversial slow-moving prisoner swap between the Afghan government and the Taliban have delayed long-awaited intra-Afghan negotiations that were originally scheduled for March 10.

Shaheen said Baradar told Pompeo the delay in intra-Afghan talks was because the Kabul government did not release all 5,000 Taliban prisoners as stipulated in the accord.

Afghan officials say they have released about 4,000 insurgent prisoners so far while Shaheen said his group has also freed 737 out of the promised 1,000 Afghan forces being held by the Taliban.

Shaheen noted that Pompeo called for all Afghan warring sides to do more to reduce violence, claiming the chief U.S. diplomat acknowledged that the insurgent group has “lowered the war graph by not attacking cities and major military bases.”

Under provisions of the U.S.-Taliban agreement, insurgents are not supposed to attack  American and coalition troops, and their required to reduce battlefield operations against Afghan security forces in the run-up to intra-Afghan peace negotiations.

Shaheen said that in the conference with Pompeo, the Taliban chief negotiator called for the release of the remaining Afghan prisoners being held in Guantanamo Bay detention center. Baradar also demanded Washington release Hajji Bashar Noorzai, an Afghan drug lord serving a life sentence in a U.S. prison for his role in international narcotics trafficking, the Taliban spokesman said.

South Korea’s industrial output suffers extended slump amid pandemic

Sejong, South Korea’s industrial output extended its slump in May as the coronavirus pandemic disrupted supply chains, but retail sales reported a robust gain, data showed Tuesday.

The nation’s overall industrial production fell 1.2 percent on-month in May, following a 2.8 percent on-month plunge in April, according to data compiled by Statistics Korea.

Compared with a year earlier, overall industrial production also plunged 5.6 percent in May, according to South Korean News Agency (Yonhap).

Production in the mining, manufacturing, gas and electricity industries plunged 6.7 percent on-month in May, marking the sharpest decline since December 2008.

Retail sales rose 4.6 percent in May from a month earlier as the nation eased strict social distancing rules, and the output in the service sector gained 2.3 percent on-month.

Sales of durable goods, such as cars, gained 7.6 percent and those of nondurable ones, such as cosmetics, edged up 0.7 percent, the data showed.

Production of chips rose 10.8 percent on-month in May, but auto output plummeted 21.4 percent last month.

Local manufacturers have been facing hurdles in securing key parts as suppliers around the globe suspended their operations amid the pandemic, with global shipments of goods also being disrupted by entry bans.

Facility investment fell 5.9 percent on-month in May, marking the first monthly decline since February this year. the data showed.

Vice Finance Minister Kim Yong-beom said a recovery in retail sales is expected to help the nation’s economy revive its growth momentum.

Exports have also showed signs of bottoming out in June, Kim said, adding the government will encourage companies to make more investment.

The so-called cyclical component of the composite leading index, which predicts the turning point in business cycles, fell by 0.8 point on-month to 96.5, marking the lowest level in more than 21 years.

The nation’s economy shrank 1.3 percent on-quarter in the first quarter of this year, the sharpest quarterly contraction since the last three months of 2008.

Exports slipped 7.5 percent on-year in the first 20 days of June amid the shock from the coronavirus pandemic.

UK economy shows biggest drop in 40 years

London, Britain’s economy shrank by the most since 1979 in early 2020 as households slashed their spending, according to official data that included the first few days of the coronavirus lockdown.

Gross domestic product dropped by a quarterly 2.2% between January and March, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will set out his plan to speed up the British economy’s recovery later on Tuesday when he will promise to fast-track 5 billion pounds ($6.13 billion) of infrastructure investment, according to Reuters.

Britain’s economy may have contracted by 20% in the first half of 2020, the Bank of England said earlier this month as the full effects of the lockdown hammered most sectors in the April-June period. The BoE has said the slump in the economy this year could be the worst in three centuries.

Tuesday’s figures – which build on previously released data for the first quarter – showed a surge in household saving as their spending collapsed by the largest amount, in cash terms, since records began in the 1950s.

“The lockdown of most businesses on March 23 meant that households were unable to spend even if they wanted to,” said Thomas Pugh, UK economist at Capital Economics, adding that it will take the economy until 2022 to regain its pre-crisis level.

The household savings ratio shot up to 8.6% in the first quarter from 6.6% at the end of 2019.

The ONS has previously estimated that Britain’s economy shrank by a record 20.4% in April from March but there have been some signs of recovery more recently.

The ONS also said Britain’s current account deficit widened by more than expected in the first three months of 2020.

The balance of payments deficit – a long-standing concern for investors because it leaves Britain reliant on foreign inflows of cash – grew to 21.1 billion pounds ($25.9 billion) in the first quarter, compared with a median forecast of 15.4 billion pounds in a Reuters poll of economists.

Stripping out volatile movements of gold and other precious metals, the current account deficit narrowed slightly, the ONS said.
