Comprehensive joint campaign launched to remove abandoned cars in Industrial Area

Last Thursday morning, the Joint Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles in the State launched a comprehensive joint campaign to remove abandoned cars in the Industrial Area, in cooperation with the Public Cleanliness and Mechanical Equipment departments, Doha Municipality, and the security authorities. The committee was reformed in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 178 of 2020. It is headed by His Excellency Brigadier Ali Salman al-Hassan al-Mohannadi. The Chairman of the Committee instructed the members to start a campaign to remove abandoned cars and equipment in the Industrial Area on September 9, 2020, and work to remove all abandoned cars in the area.

The campaign is within the framework of the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) to limit the number of abandoned cars and equipment that distort the aesthetic view of the state as an implementation of Law No (18) of 2017 on public hygiene in addition to what that might cause of health and environmental hazards.

 

The officials who took part in the launch of the campaign included, Mr. Mohammed Faraj Al-Kubaisi, Assistant Director of the General Cleaning Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and member of the Committee for Removal of Abandoned Vehicles. Mr. Marzouq Mubarak Al Masifari, Assistant Director of the Mechanical Equipment Department and member of the joint committee also participated. Also participating was Captain Ali Muhammad Suwaidan Al-Marri, officer of the Environmental Protection Unit of Internal Security Force – LEKHWIYA and member of the Committee. This is in addition to Lieutenant Youssef Fahd Al Ali of the General Directorate of Traffic and member of the committee, Lieutenant Muhammad Jassim Al-Tamimi of the Internal Security Force – LEKHWIYA, and Mr. Hamad Sultan al-Shahwani, head of the General Control Department at Doha Municipality and member of the committee.

 

On this occasion, Mr. Mohammed Faraj Al-Kubaisi, Assistant Director of the General Cleaning Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and member of the committee, stressed that this campaign started today and will continue until the completion of the removal of all abandoned cars throughout the Industrial Area. He explained that 17,000 vehicles, including 12 thousand cars in the Industrial Area, were removed during 2019, adding that 5,000 of them were disposed of and the same will be done the rest informing their owners. The disposal of abandoned vehicles will be through private companies in a safe and sound manner and according to internationally and locally approved standards.

 

? Based on the directives of the Chairman of the Committee,? said in the same context Mr. Marzouq Mubarak Al Masifari, Assistant Director of the Mechanical Equipment Department and member of the Committee for Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, ?A campaign has been launched to remove the largest number of abandoned cars in the Industrial Area.? He added that this has been done due to the importance of this region and its important and vital location. He continued saying that the Committee has intensified its efforts over the past period through continuous campaigns all around the State. He expected the number of cars that will be removed from the Industrial Area during the coming period to reach approximately 7-10 thousand cars from the Industrial Area, at a rate of 50 to 70 cars per day. He called on the owners of the cars the in Industrial Area to cooperate with the authorities and remove their cars from the area. He stressed that the committee periodically carries out campaigns to remove abandoned cars from all regions of the State. A number of 4,000 abandoned cars have been removed since the beginning of this year.
