In a press conference with Iraqi counterpart, Dr. Mikdad: Syria and Iraq stand together in face of all joint challenges

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad discussed with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein in Baghdad on Sunday means of bolstering relations between the two countries and upgrade them in the interests of the two brotherly countries.

The two sides also stressed keenness on enhancing the bilateral coordination of the Arab, regional and international forums regarding all issues of mutual concerns.

During a press conference with Hussein following their meeting, Dr. Mikdad expressed his pride for visiting Baghdad, as it is the depth of history and symbol of civilization, asserting keenness to exert every effort to strengthen joint action as Syria’s and Iraq’s stances are united in facing the joint challenges.

He thanked Iraq over the assistance provided to Syria following the catastrophe of the earthquake.

Mikdad added that they discussed the latest developments and the bilateral relations, and agreed on continuing cooperation to develop them in all fields and enhancing coordination in the economic side, asserting that the two sides aspire for best relations between the two countries which are the directives of President Bashar al-Assad in a way that these relations be strategic and constructive to serve the interests of the two fraternal peoples.

The Foreign Minister said that the two sides will meet soon in the meeting of the Arab Follow-up Committee in Egyptian Capital of Cairo to have an Arab line in the framework of supporting Syria, ending the challenges that face it, particularly resulted from the presence of the terrorist organizations in Idleb province and in the northeast, ending the US occupation of some Syrian territories.

He pointed out that Syria wants a solution for these problems in a way that maintains its sovereignty, and Iraq’s sovereignty as what affects Syria affects Iraq and vice versa.

Mikdad said that both countries should work together to fight terrorism and drug threat.

He also called for consolidating efforts to overcome impacts of the western coercive economic measures aimed at starving people, calling these measures immoral.

He noted that the imposition of coercive economic measures by the West is not the appropriate method for relations between countries, and these measures have exacerbated the suffering of the Syrian people and must be lifted.

Mikdad said “Syria’s return to the Arab League will reinforce the weight of Arab action and give hope to the peoples that we are united to face the challenges.”

Mikdad expressed Syria’s satisfaction with the distinguished relations with Iraq, which contribute to the strengthening of inter -Arab relations.

Mikdad said “We condemn the Turkish attacks on the Iraqi and Syrian territories, and call for ending them and stopping supporting the terrorist organizations in some areas in Syria, particularly “Jabhat al-Nusra” and “Daesh,”, noting that Syria and Iraq are continuing to coordinate with each other to confront these challenges.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister, for his part, indicated that the relations between our two countries are historic and deep, and our position is firm in support of Syria, and we are very happy that it has resumed its seat in the Arab League.

Hussein said that we discussed strengthening bilateral relations, joint work to combat the drug trade and the necessity to work with the surrounding countries to combat this dangerous phenomenon for the Iraqi and Syrian societies.

He added that the humanitarian situation in Syria is difficult and needs action at the regional and international level to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and guarantee the conditions for the return of refugees to their homes.

A big turnout on Syrian Pavilion at charity bazaar of diplomatic missions in Brazil

The Syrian Embassy in Brasilia, participated in the annual diplomatic charity bazaar organized by a group of wives of heads of diplomatic missions assigned to Brazil.

More than 3,000 Brazilian and foreign visitors toured the Syrian pavilion, with its two parts of Syrian cuisine and traditional handicraft products such as Orientals.

The Syrian ambassador to Brazil, Rania al-Haj Ali, underscored the importance of Syria’s participation in this bazaar, as it is an important occasion to introduce the Brazilian people to the Syrian culture and the important aspects of the intangible Syrian heritage.

Ambassador al-Haj Ali said that Syria’s pavilion at the annual bazaar witnesses a big turnout among bazaar’s visitors every year as the visitors show big interest in the Syrian cuisine and admiration of the exhibited handicrafts which reflect Syria’s culture .

The Syrian pavilion displayed musical and lyrical performances and pictures of the most important tourist and historical monuments in Syria.

Iraqi president stresses importance of consultation and coordination with Syria on regional and international issues

Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed the importance of consultation and coordination between Iraq and Syria on issues of common concern.

This came during receiving Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad at Baghdad Palace on Sunday.

Mikdad conveyed the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad to President Rashid and the Iraqi people.

During the meeting, the Iraqi President underlined the depth of relations between the two countries and the need for strengthening them in various fields to serve the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

The Iraqi President also affirmed the importance of consultation and coordination regarding issues of common concern on the regional and international arenas.

Rashid pointed out the importance of cooperation between the two countries in order to pursue the remnants of terrorism and control the borders to consolidate security and stability.

For his part, Mikdad appreciated Iraq’s honorable stances towards Syria and its remarkable diplomatic role in order to resume its participation in the meetings of the Arab League.

Mikdad pointed out disastrous effects of the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.

Mikdad expressed happiness at the important developments in Iraq at the political, developmental and security levels, which reflected positively at the regional and international levels, appreciating Iraq’s positive and clear role in helping Syria, especially during the earthquake.

Syrian, Iraqi talks on prospects of boosting bilateral relations

The Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani and Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad discussed means of boosting bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries.

The Iraqi prime minister highlighted the national security interdependence of Iraq with Syria’s, stressing that Iraq ‘s readiness to help the Syrian people to overcome the crisis.

He also affirmed his country’s support to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Moreover, the Iraqi Prime Minister expressed his country’s willingness to cooperate with Syria in the economic and cultural areas in addition to facilitating the bilateral trade.

Minister Mikdad, for his part, conveyed greetings of the President Bashar al-Assad, expressing Syria’s appreciation to

Iraq’s firm support during the crisis and the devastating earthquake as well.

The Foreign Minister emphasized Syria’s support for Iraq’s efforts and its pivotal role to foster relations among the brotherly Arabs, expressing the keenness to jointly work to establish security and stability in the region and address common challenges, topped by terrorism.

Saudi Minister of Commerce Arrives in London to Discuss Ways to Boost Saudi-UK Economic Partnership

Saudi Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, heading a high-level Saudi delegation, arrived today in the British capital, London, to participate in the third meeting of the Economic and Social Committee of the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council. Al-Qasabi will also hold a series of meetings with officials from the government and business sectors with the aim of promoting intra-regional trade in products and services, and increasing the level of economic partnership between the two countries.

The Saudi delegation, in London until June 8, includes Deputy Minister of Commerce and CEO of the National Center for Competitiveness Dr. Iman bint Habas Al-Mutairi and 45 other officials from 22 government, private and non-profit institutions.

Al-Qasabi is scheduled to meet with UK Minister of Investment Lord Dominic Johnson; the meeting will be attended by Saudi Ambassador to UK Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz.

The two ministers will discuss means of enhancing economic partnerships in priority sectors for the two countries and of encouraging British companies to expand their businesses in the Kingdom, addressing the motivation and financing of start-ups in promising research and innovation-based areas, and reviewing Britain’s experience in entrepreneurship.

UBT Achieves New Ranking, Making it among Best 300 Universities in World

The University of Business and Technology (UBT) has achieved a new ranking, making it among the world’s 300 best universities, according to the international classifier Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for 2023. This highlights UBT’s ongoing endeavors to achieve the United Nations sustainable development goal of securing decent work and economic growth.

The announcement concerning the ranking was made at the Global Sustainable Development Congress hosted by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in which 1,500 scientists from 67 countries, representing 583 institutions, including 267 universities from across the world, took part.

This achievement is a result of the university’s practices and policies that endeavor to create a proper working environment for all its employees, and of its support for many initiatives meant to improve the competencies of students of both genders, and enhancing competitiveness by investing in continuous development. Such efforts are part of the university’s commitment to due regard for responsibility and the requirements of the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Management Education (UN-PRME) Initiative.

The university is committed to disclosing its practices that contribute to realizing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and showing responsibility for community development.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Gift Handed over 36,500 Copies of the Quran to Kazakhstan

Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan Faisal Al-Qahtani handed over a gift of 36,500 copies of the Holy Quran printed by the King Fahd Printing Complex. The present came from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and was handed over to Grand Mufti of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurizbay Taganuli.

The Mufti of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for this gift and for the interest of the Kingdom’s leadership in the Muslims of Kazakhstan.

This initiative of gifting copies of the Holy Quran from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is part of the programs implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, in coordination with the Kingdom’s embassies abroad, through which millions of copies of the Holy Quran in more than 77 languages are distributed to Muslims worldwide who constantly show appreciation for the support from the wise Saudi leadership.

Jazan Border Guards Foil Attempt to Smuggle 230 Kg of Khat

A Border Guards patrol in Al-Ardah sector of the Jizan region has foiled an attempt to smuggle 230 kilograms of khat. The smugglers were apprehended and the confiscated contraband was handed over to the competent authority.

Security authorities are calling on the public to report any information concerning drug smuggling or selling by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern regions and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions. Jeddah Police Arrests 5 Foreign Nationals Attempting to Sell Hashish

Jeddah Governorate Police Directorate has arrested five Ethiopian nationals for attempting to sell hashish. The five were referred to the public prosecution.

Director of Policy and Planning Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets with German Officials

HE Director of Policy and Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Fahad Al Khater met with HE the Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office Tobias Lindner and HE Head of the Planning Staff at the German Federal Foreign Office Michael Scharfschwerdt, each separately, on the sidelines of His Excellency’s participation in the 20th edition of the Shangri-La Dialogue, which is organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies in the Republic of Singapore from June 3-4.

During the two meetings, they reviewed the strategic relations between the two countries and preparations for holding the first Qatari-German strategic dialogue.
