Tuwaiq Academy Launches Metaverse Camps

Tuwaiq Academy has opened registration for the Metaverse Academy camps, held in partnership with META, the first of their kind in the Middle East and North Africa. The camps will last for nine months and will be held at the academy’s head office in Riyadh.

Several tracks will be pursued at the camps, designed to introduce the concept of Metaverse and help trainees discover augmented reality and virtual reality technologies and their applications.

The program aims at equipping trainees with the necessary skills to build and develop Metaverse systems.

In partnerships with major international companies, Tuwaiq Academy has launched Apple Developer Academy, AWS Academy and Alibaba Cloud Academy, aiming at building national human resources specialized in emerging technologies, to meet the requirement of the labor market.

General Presidency for Affairs of Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque Presents 185 Programs and Initiatives during Hajj Season 2023

During this year’s Hajj season, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has prepared 185 programs and initiatives for the two mosques.

They include launching the “Serving the pilgrims and visitors is a source of pride for us”, harnessing artificial intelligence, and using electronic applications to serve the pilgrims and communicate with them in their own languages as much as possible, to facilitate their journey and enrich their experience.

Ministry of Investment Delegation Participates in Saudi-French Investment Forum

Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid Al-Falih participates in the Saudi-French Investment Forum, which will be held tomorrow in Paris. The forum brings together Saudi and French government officials, and private sector businesses to discuss major investment opportunities in different sectors and highlight the progress made by each country in carrying out their economic development plans.

Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad Olivier Becht and Al-Falih will make the opening statements.

In conjunction with the Forum an official reception for delegates of 179 member countries of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the World Expo’s organizing body, is scheduled to be held tomorrow. After the BIE general assembly Tuesday, a ceremony will be held under the theme “Transforming Our World, Navigating toward a Better Future” to showcase Saudi Arabia’s bid and readiness to host World EXPO 2030, investment opportunities and major projects that attest to the Kingdom’s readiness to host such international exhibitions and events.

HMC Applies Latest Visual Correction Procedures to Treat Presbyopia

The Ophthalmology department at Hamad Medical Corporation has started a new refractive technique called Femto Smile, to treat patients with mild presbyopia by improving the way of light rays focusing on the retina. This technique is the most advanced, safe and smooth technique for vision correction and requires less recovery time and helps patients to stop using glasses or contact lenses in some cases.

Arab League, EU Reaffirm Basis for Just, Comprehensive Peace to Establish Independent Palestinian State

The Arab League and the European Union reaffirmed the need to establish a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace for the PalestinianIsraeli conflict in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the twostate solution and the Arab peace initiative.

This came during a political consultation session held Sunday by Arab League SecretaryGeneral Ahmed Aboul Gheit together with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, and his accompanying delegation.

The Arab League issued a statement saying that the two sides discussed multiple issues of mutual interest as well as a number of regional crises, particularly those related to the Palestinian issue. Aboul Gheit and Borrell also exchanged views on the crises in Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Ukraine, ways to resolve them, in addition to the need to address the root causes behind the exacerbation of illegal immigration, especially across the Mediterranean Sea.

The two sides also agreed on the importance of strengthening and developing institutional cooperation relations between the Arab League and the European Union in all areas of mutual interest.

SPA, DOSM Agree on Cooperation in Building Smart Databases

The Statistics and Planning Authority (SPA) and the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) have agreed to boost cooperation in the field of building smart databases using machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

This came during the visit of Statistics and Planning Authority delegation, headed by SPA President’s Assistant Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi to the DOSM, in order to review their national experience in building the central statistical database, learn about the data sources and the technology used in data storage and processing.

Al Nuaimi praised the Malaysian Statistics Department for providing the unique opportunity for the SPA experts to learn from the Malaysian experience related to building and managing statistical databases, and to benefit from the Malaysian experience in building a business register that includes economic data for operating establishments.

The Qatari delegation was briefed on the existing preparations to benefit from big data as a new source of official statistics, which is characterized by the huge volume, diversity and availability.

The agreement between the Qatari and Malaysian parties comes to activate cooperation in the field of building smart databases and analyzing their outputs using data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence, in order to accelerate the completion of national projects, especially the third national development strategy projects, and to provide investors and academic researchers with the necessary data for their work to help make sound decisions.

The Planning and Statistics Authority is making continuous efforts to build a national central statistical database in multiple stages, based on analyzing the current situation, establishing national partnerships, and agreeing on the role of national partners in building this national work.

Iraqi Security Forces Embark on LargeScale Security Operations Against ISIS

Two security operations were launched Sunday to hunt down militants of ISIS group northern and western Iraq.

Forces of Ninewa Operational Command (NOC) have embarked on securing Hatra regions until borderlines, in lockstep with both Salah AlDin and Island operations commands and from four angles, Iraqi security forces outlined in a statement.

Meanwhile, Anbar operations command carried out a largescale security operation from six angles targeting areas in western Anbar and the borderline with Syria and Jordan.

MoEHE Due to Announce Results of High School Diploma Exams Monday

Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) will announce results of the second semester exams for general secondary certificate for the 2022/2023 academic year.

A total of 13,497 male and female students took the exams this year and were distributed to 77 exam centers in schools within and outside the city of Doha.
