Foreign Minister meets Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs


New York, Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Dr. Ayman Al Safadi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Permanent Mission of Jordan in New York with, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, they discussed the strong historical relations between the two countries and means to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation, coordination, and mutual consultation to serve their common interests and goals.

They also exchanged views on the regional situation, the conflict in Gaza, escalating tensions in Lebanon and the West Bank, and the Arab and international efforts aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and reducing tensions. They addressed the initiatives undertaken by the Arab-Islamic Joint Committee during the current session of the UN General Assembly.

Assigned by HRH Princess Sabeeka, Dr. Al Balushi holds meetings at the Eurasian Forum


St. Petersburg, Assigned by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Balushi, SCW member, participated in the 2024 Eurasian Women’s Forum. Dr. Al Balushi engaged in several bilateral meetings and contributed to discussions and workshops at the forum, held under the chairmanship of Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia, themed ‘Women for Strengthening Trust and Global Cooperation,’ from September 18-20 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Dr. Al Balushi held a meeting with Galina Karellova, First Deputy Chairwoman of the Regional Policy Committee of the Federation Council of Russia and Chairwoman of the Eurasian Women’s Forum Council, to explore areas of cooperation between the SCW and Russia on women’s issues, sharing experiences in various domains.

She expressed hope for continued cooperation and exchange of expertise, while Karellova praised Bahrain’s effor
ts to support women and welcomed further collaboration.

On the sidelines of the forum, Dr. Al Balushi also met Anastasia Stolkovaya, Chairwoman of the Women for a Healthy Society Committee, to discuss the project’s vision of improving quality of life and reducing mortality, aligned with Russia’s National Strategy for Women 2023-2030.

During a roundtable on women in technology and artificial intelligence, Dr. Al Balushi emphasised the importance of adopting AI technologies tailored to local traditions and lifestyles to enhance efficiency and create job opportunities. She highlighted the SCW’s efforts to encourage Bahraini women to pursue careers in technology.

Dr. Al Balushi also participated in a dialogue between women from Russia and the Arab world, discussing SCW’s support for young entrepreneurs and initiatives like the “Imtiaz” programme for young Bahraini businesswomen, which fosters innovation and economic participation.

She noted that Bahrain hosts the first business incubator for women entrepreneu
rs, “Riyadat,” to support women in establishing and managing small and medium enterprises. She also highlighted the role of Tamkeen, founded in 2006, in promoting SMEs and supporting entrepreneurs.

Dr. Al Balushi attended an open session of the Women 20 (W20) group, which promotes gender equality and economic empowerment, discussing the priorities for 2024-2025 and the role of international women’s cooperation.

In her opening remarks at the forum, Dr. Al Balushi highlighted several initiatives led by the SCW to support women’s role in promoting global peace, technological innovation, environmental safety, and social projects.

Bahrain celebrates Saudi Arabia’s 94th National Day by turning green


Manama, On this occasion of the deep-rooted relations between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, buildings and landmarks across Bahrain were adorned in green to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s 94th National Day.

Official and private institutions were illuminated in green, reflecting the joyful atmosphere and shared sentiments of happiness among the people of Bahrain for this cherished national occasion.

Foreign Minister participates in ministerial meeting on Gaza situation and two-state solution for just peace in the region


New York, Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a ministerial meeting on the situation in Gaza and the two-state solution for achieving just peace in the region. The meeting was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting included members of the Arab-Islamic Joint Ministerial Committee, comprising Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Turkey, the Arab League, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with participation from the European Union (EU) and Norway.

The meeting aimed to coordinate the committee’s efforts and activities during the UN General Assembly sessions to garner international support for preventing escalation and stopping the war in Gaza, promoting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and supporting efforts for its recognition and full UN membership.

During the meeting, the
minister reaffirmed Bahrain’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He highlighted the consistent Arab position from the 33rd Arab Summit, known as the “Bahrain Summit,” which supports the goals and principles of the United Nations aimed at maintaining international peace and security-principles that align with Bahrain’s approach to promoting security and stability globally and fostering friendly relations and peaceful coexistence among nations.

Al Zayani added that the committee should focus its upcoming communications on the outcomes of the Bahrain Summit and the initiatives adopted there, as they reflect the Arab position on the Palestinian issue and the rights of the Palestinian people.

Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club signs partnership agreement with Charles Russell Speechlys


Manama, Following the directives of the High Committee of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), chaired by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, on the importance of establishing partnerships that contribute to supporting the efforts to advance the horseracing sport, and ensure the success of organizing international races and tournaments, REHC signed a silver sponsorship agreement, for the 2024/2025 horseracing season, with Charles Russell Speechlys, which is one of the leading international law firms.

The agreement was signed by Yusuf Osama Buheji, CEO of REHC, and Mazen Al Mardhi, Partner at Charles Russell Speechlys.

Buheji emphasised the importance of establishing partnerships with various local and international institutions and companies, in line with the Club’s development efforts. This also aligns with the Kingdom’s approach to hosting international horseracing events and tournaments.

He also noted the importance of such agreements that open new horizons for cooper
ation, praising the partnership with Charles Russell Speechlys. He acknowledged the firm’s officials for their interest and continuous support for horseracing in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On his part, Al Mardhi expressed his appreciation for the partnership between Charles Russell Speechlys and REHC, and for becoming a silver sponsor for One of the races taking place on a Bahrain Turf Series race day in the upcoming season. He highlighted the firm’s commitment to supporting the horseracing sport in Bahrain, which is witnessing great development at all levels, which contributes to enhancing the prestigious position of the Kingdom at the international level for horseracing.
