Afro-Asian Affairs Chief meets Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry President

Ambassador Fatima Abdulla Fares Aldhaen, Chief of Afro-Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with Tandy Wangchuk, President at Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry on the sideline of their visit for the 2nd Cycle Review on the implementation of United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

During the meeting, the ambassador noted the importance of economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and exchanging business delegations and experiences in the field of small, medium enterprises as well as their role in developing the economy, and providing job opportunities.

She expressed keenness for further cooperation between the two countries.

The president affirmed the wishes of his country to enhance the joint economic partnership with Bahrain.

He briefed the delegation on Bhutan’s efforts to be carbon free and noted that for over a 46 year the Bhutanese government has not relied on its gross domestic product (GDP) as a measure of progress, but rather through Gross National Happiness (GNH) that places great emphasis on protecting the country’s rich natural environment.
