Yesterday, the activities of the State of Qatar Pavilion participating in Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 “Expo 2019” in the Chinese Capital Beijing have been launched. His Excellency Sultan Bin Salmin Al-Mansuri, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Bernard Oosterom, President of the International Association of Horticultural Producers “AIPH”, Mr. Briercliffe, Secretary General of the International Association of Horticultural Producers, and a number of visitors as well as media representatives took part in the opening ceremony.
The Exhibition shall be held under the logo “Live Green. Live Better” and it shall continue for about six months till the seventh of next October. The Exhibition contains a large and diversified number of gardens and cultural activities. It aims at educating visitors with respect to the significant role of plants in supporting the quality of life and guaranteeing the future of next generations. It is worthy to mention that the Exhibition shall be held on an area of 503 hectares. It is located at the foot of the Great Wall of China in Yancheng District in the Chinese Capital. It is expected that the Exhibition shall attract 16 million visitors from all around the world.
Dr. FaiqahAshkinani, Deputy General Commissioner of Qatar Pavilion in Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 “Expo 2019”, stated that the Pavilion has been constructed on a total area of 2,100 square meters while the building area reaches 3,050 square meters. It has been designed by the Qatari Architect FatmaFawzi. The design process takes six months of workshops, discussions and exchange of ideas.
In a special declaration to Qatar News Agency “QNA” after opening Qatar Pavilion in Expo 2019, she said that the workshops and discussion sessions resulted in selecting the current design derived from the Sidra Tree.
