Paris, The Al-Raya stormed to victory at the Chantilly Racecourse in France, winning the Arenberg Cup (Prix d’Arenberg), class 3, for two-year olds.
The mare is owned by His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Al-Khalifa
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa expressed his delight at the victory which reflects the ability of the mare to compete in overseas races, and mirrors horsepracing strides in Bahrain.
This victory is a catalyst to continue supporting overseas participation and honouring the Kingdom Bahrain in overseas championships, in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, he said.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa hailed the efforts exerted by trainer Simon Crisford and commended jockey who bagged the cup.
The Al-Raya stormed to victory and was the first to cross the finishing line, in the 1000-metre race which saw eight participants.
