COEFFICIENTE (Siyouni x Al Reem) opened her scorecard for her owner and breeder His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani at Compiegne, France on Friday, 23 April. She won the Prix De La Croix Saint-Ouen, a maiden for 3-year-old fillies over 1,400m, in impressive style.
Trained by French maestro André Fabre, COEFFICIENTE was steered to success by champion jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot. Drawn on the outside of the 9-runner field, the bay filly dropped in behind the leaders on the outside. Boudot tracked the leaders, keeping his filly under cover, and COEFFICIENTE travelled very strongly throughout the race. He unleashed her in the final 200 metres and she showed a very smart acceleration to quickly take the lead, winning by 1¾ lengths in front of the more experienced PHAIDRA (IRE) (Camelot x Piacere) who is trained by Markus Munch and was ridden by Mickael Barzalona. The Carlos Laffon Parias-trained HEROIC STAR (IRE) (Sea The Stars x Heroic Heart) was further 1½-lengths behind in third under Arthur Mosse.
“We came here expecting to win”, explained Boudot, “The filly did it easily and showed class. She ran well last time out for her first run on a straight track. She has improved. She made up for fact that the race didn’t really go her way through sheer class. She is still immature and will improve with racing.”
COEFFICIENTE is the first runner and first winner for her dam, AL REEM, who also ran in the colours of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani. AL REEM is a daughter of the high-class racemare TRÈS RAPIDE, who was multiple Group placed.
