Bahrain’s efforts to combat the pandemic highlighted

Bahrain’s commitment to meet international humanitarian obligations and promote human rights was stressed.

 

Shura Council Second Deputy Chairperson Jameela Ali Al Salman paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his royal directives.

 

She praised nation efforts exerted by Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

 

She underlined the mandatory precautionary measures to curb the pandemic, the provision of healthcare for citizens and residents and the approval of five COVID-19 vaccines.

 

Al Salman highlighted Bahrain’s efforts as shed took part in the remote 17th session of the committee in charge of consolidating respect of the international humanitarian law at the Interparliamentary Union (IPU).

 

The virtual session was held ahead of the 143 IPU Congress which will convened in May this year.

 

Al Salman stressed the importance of providing vaccinations against the  (COVID-19) for people living zones, as well as all refugees, internally displaced persons.

 

She highlighted the need to include in this topic the priorities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union committee concerned with promoting respect for international humanitarian law, mobilising the international community to intervene, and activating the role of International parliaments and parliamentarians for the important and significant role they play in this regard.
