Riyadh, – GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani welcomed the US administration’s hard stance in support for the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the fight against extremist terrorist organizations, in face of the terrorist acts intended to harm its security and stability.
In a statement on Saturday, the GCC chief said that the US State Department’s decision to place two Bahrainis on the terrorist list affirmed the US administration’s support for the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat extremist terrorist organizations that seek to destabilize the security and stability of the Kingdom and terrorize its people.
Al Zayani praised the tireless and successful efforts made by the Bahraini government in the face of the plots and campaigns against the Kingdom, stressing that the US State Department’s decision reflects the insistence of the US administration to combat all terrorist organizations, and its keenness to restore security and stability to the region.
On the other hand, the GCC Secretary-General strongly condemned the missile attack carried out by the Houthi and Saleh militias on one of the mosques in Sirwah District in the Yemeni province of Marib on Friday, killing and wounding scores of innocent worshipers.
Al Zayani described the attack as a heinous terrorist crime incompatible with the principles of Islam and international laws.
He underlined that targeting the places of worship and shedding the blood of innocents is a terrorist crime and a dangerous escalation that can not be justified or tolerated.
He stressed the GCC support for the Yemeni government, and called on the international community to condemn such heinous terrorist crimes. (QNA)
