Manama, Under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, The Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) announces the launch of the “Political Development Forum” under the slogan “Bahrain: Belonging and Citizenship” on November 27.
Information Affairs Minister, and BIPD Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi, said that this year’s forum aims to emphasize the values of national belonging and loyalty to the leadership, and work to develop a national political vision that takes into consideration the values and traditions of the society.
BIPD Chairman of the Board of Trustees stressed the importance of promoting the values of citizenship and belonging as a main pillar to strengthen the internal front of society and maintain stability, community peace and national unity, pointing out that the implantation of these values in the community is a shared responsibility of all national institutions, based on the constants confirmed by the reform project of HM the King, the National Action Charter and the Kingdom’s Constitution, which form the basis of reference for national loyalty.
He stressed that strengthening the values of belonging and citizenship under the current circumstances and the challenges facing the region is an urgent requirement to face the various phenomena and behaviors that try to corrupt society by targeting the younger generations, calling on everyone to be responsible in fulfilling their duties and working to instill patriotism as an integral part of the upbringing efforts.
The forum will present a series of discussion sessions focusing on national belonging from different angles, and discuss the role and importance of civil society institutions in promoting affiliation, to enhance citizens’ awareness of the importance of these issues in consolidating the foundations of society in order to enhance the progress and prosperity in the Kingdom.
The first session will tackle the theme of Citizenship, Family and Education and will be moderated by Ebrahim Al Tamimi, Director of Bahrain Program for Best Government Practices. The speakers at session are: Shaikha Mai bint Sulaiman Al Otaibi, Vice Chairwoman of BIPD Board of Trustees, and Chairwoman of Bahrain Bayan School, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Federal National Council
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Center for Excellence in Combating Violent Extremism (Hedayah).
The second session will be titled “Media and its role in promoting national belonging”, and will be moderated by Eman Marhoon � Media Person, speaking by Yousif Albinkhalil Editor-in-Chief of Al-Watan newspaper, Salman Al-Dosseri – Journalist, and Dr. Barakat Al-Wegyan – Media Advisor and TV presenter.
Moderated by Haya Al-Qassim – Media Person, Omar Farooq – YouTuber and Content Creator, and Abdullah Al-Bandar – Presenter and Content Creator in Sky News Arabia, will discuss the third session, “Youth and Citizenship: A Social Responsibility.
The fourth and final session, will be moderated by Ali al-Olayani- Editor-in Chief and TV Presenter in MBC group, and entitled “Art: an influential national message”. Arab Superstar Hussain Al Jasmi – Goodwill Extraordinary Ambassador, will be a speaker in this session.
