The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MoFAIC, and the UAE’s diplomatic missions abroad, observed on Thursday, the nation’s Commemoration Day, to remember the brave Emirati martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their country.
The day was observed as part of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to mark 30th November each year as a day to commemorate the UAE’s martyrs, and express pride for their heroic sacrifice, as well as to renew the people’s loyalty to the UAE.
In a statement made on Thursday, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said, “The 30th of November reflects a shining moment in the UAE’s history. On this day, we recall the sacrifices made by our martyrs for their homeland.”
“The UAE will not forget its sons and daughters,” he added.
The ministry’s staff yesterday observed a minute of silent prayer for the souls of the UAE’s martyrs. The flags at the ministry’s headquarters flew at half-mast from 8 Hrs to 11 Hrs, as a sign of respect for their sacrifice.
