Interior Minister attends ceremony organized by General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing

Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, attended today a ceremony by the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing.

The event was held to acknowledge the roles of sponsors and partners in the success of the “Fael Khair” initiatives. Senior officials, sponsors and partners attended.

The Interior Minister asserted that the “Fael Khair” is a joint project to highlight human conscience and the rich traditions of Bahrain and its people. He said that it represents one of the initiatives of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism (Bahrainouna). It is also a fundamental approach to the civilised journey of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He expressed complete gratitude for the humaneness and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which reflects his care for citizens by providing a decent living for all of them. He said that HM the King cares for Bahrainis and their dignity.

He said that the nation and citizens are the core of an approach protected by HM the King as part of his wise leadership of the country of tolerance, peace and national values inherited through generations.

He also hailed the approach of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, that contributed to achieving the highest level of humanitarian and civilised development through human rights protection in all aspects.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing said that the “Fael Khair” initiative reinforced the role and position of Bahrain that will remain, throughout history, the land of goodness and blessings that were enriched during the reform era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He said that the initiative translates the approach of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to promote family stability and provide decent living for all.

He said that the directorate was honoured to hold the event under the patronage of the Interior Minister, highlighting his care and support for the initiative as part of the Interior Ministry’s development and modernisation process and the comprehensive national strategy to protect human rights that include providing economic security and social protection.

The Director-General said that the first campaign to list the names of those with unpaid loans received positive responses, including the support provided to the initiative by the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) President, by paying all debts of females in the list. In addition, the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), as part of the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, and other organisations, companies and citizens, also donated.

He revealed that more than 93 media campaigns were organised, which resulted in raising more than BD2 million in donations to pay loans for 500 cases. In addition, he hailed the dedication of donors to donate through more than 32,000 e-payment transactions.

The ceremony also included a short video on the initiative launched three years ago and its accomplishments.

After that, the Interior Minister honoured the initiative’s sponsors, partners, social media influencers, initiative’s committee members and organisers.

The initiative was launched per the directives of the Interior Minister. It is being followed up by the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing to accept donations for those who couldn’t pay their loans and received jail terms. The Interior Minister appreciated all sponsors and partners for their role in the initiative’s success.
