The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)?s Information Systems Department and the Building Permits Complex, in cooperation with the technical affairs departments of municipalities, has launched a unified e-inspection system for building licences across all municipalities in the country.
The system was initially launched at a number of municipalities on July 14, and has been gradually extended to other municipalities to ensure that it covers all the requirements inspection-related work.
Accordingly, inspectors weretrained and familiarised with the system until they were able to exclusively use the new system by replacing manual procedures and paperwork.
The system provides a number of technical advantages that will help improve the quality, productivity and accuracy of the inspection, the statement notes. These include the use of only a tablet, connected to mobile Internet, by an inspector to conduct the necessary procedures without having to carry documents or doing any paperwork.
It also provides the inspector with easy and instant access to all related information, maps, photographs and reports. Besides, the final inspection report will be signed electronically and the system supports both Arabic and English. The MME is currently working on developing unified inspection systems that cover all its fields of jurisdiction.
