Van Ham auction house in Germany announced that the painting by the late Spanish artist Pablo Picasso entitled ‘Buste de Femme’ (Bust of a Woman), which was painted two years before his death in 1971, was sold for 3.4 million Euros (equivalent to USD 3.64 million).
According to the auction house, this is the first time in at least 25 years that a master painting of the Spanish artist has been sold at an auction in Germany.
Art historians identified Picasso’s second wife Jacqueline Roque (1927-86) in the painting, whose estate the painting originally came from.
