Qatari Newspapers Highlight Amir’s Participation in Arab-Islamic Summit.

Doha: Qatari newspapers emphasized the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, underscoring His Highness’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and the broader issues concerning regional security and stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari dailies pointed out the significance of Arab-Islamic unity as the sole approach to addressing the challenges threatening the region, and to urge the international community to take definitive actions towards sustainable solutions that ensure peace and stability. Al-Watan, in its editorial titled “Summit for Unifying Efforts,” highlighted HH the Amir’s participation in the summit in Riyadh, aimed at discussing the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression on Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and unifying positions to pressure the international community to find solutions guaranteeing regional peace.

The summit, an extension of the Arab-Islamic Summit held in November 2023, seeks to fur
ther the efforts initiated by a ministerial committee established then, which engaged in global diplomatic tours to foster support for the Palestinian cause. These efforts have led to increased international recognition of Palestine and the UN General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution for Palestine’s full membership, as noted by Al-Watan.

Al-Sharq, in its editorial “Unity of Arab-Islamic Ranks,” highlighted the global attention on Riyadh, where the summit is convening with leaders of Arab and Islamic nations. The focus is on ending Israeli aggression on Palestinian territories and Lebanon, supporting the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, and unifying efforts to address the crisis. Al-Sharq emphasized HH the Amir’s commitment to prioritizing the Palestinian issue and the security of the region, acknowledging the critical need for Arab-Islamic solidarity in facing the severe repercussions of the Israeli actions on Gaza.

The current summit convenes amid ongoing regional challenges, with no political resoluti
ons yet emerging to end the conflict in Gaza and Lebanon. The prolonged war has inflicted severe hardships on the Palestinian people in Gaza, involving mass displacement and destruction, Al-Sharq remarked. The newspaper concluded that Arab-Islamic unity remains the key mechanism to confront regional threats and push for meaningful international actions that promise enduring peace and stability.
