Bahrain welcomes UN Security Council resolution for immediate and complete ceasefire in Gaza


Manama, The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate, full and complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and exchange of prisoners, the return of civilians to their homes, and the safe distribution of humanitarian aid.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the resolution was an important step towards addressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation and to end the devastating eight-month war.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation for the US efforts in submitting and adopting this draft resolution based on the initiative of Joe Biden, President of the US.

The ministry called upon the international community to ensure the implementation of this resolution in its three phases; a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, a launch of a major reconstruction plan, and supporting just and comprehensive peace negotiations to establish an independent Palest
inian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Bahrain All Share Index marks 2,039.37 points


Manama, Bahrain All Share Index has closed at 2,039.37 points, marking a decrease of 0.56 points below the previous closing.

This decrease was due to the drop in the consumer discretionary sector, the financial sector and the consumer staples sector.

Bahrain Islamic Index has closed at 831.60 points, marking a decrease of 2.54 points below the previous closing.

Results indicated that 62 equity transactions took place with a volume of 1,148,804 worth BD 265,348.

Investors traded mainly in the financial sector, representing 48.95% of the total value of securities traded.
