Arab States Broadcasting Union’s Executive Council Holds 111th Meeting

Tunis: The Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) held its 111th meeting on Tuesday at the union’s headquarters in Tunis, under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. CEO of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) and ASBU’s president Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthi represented the Kingdom during the meeting, which was also attended by ASBU’s Director General, Engineer Abdelrahim Suleiman.

In a speech during the meeting, Al-Harthi highlighted the remarkable development and positive momentum in all ASBU’s activities. He emphasized the significance of artificial intelligence and the changes it brings to various forms of the media industry. Al-Harthi commended ASBU’s progress in technological fields, particularly regarding cloud platforms. He also praised the positive outcomes of the union’s investment-oriented approach through several projects, including the ASBU Link Center, which will provide significant resources in the long term.

Al-Harthi noted that ASBU’s training courses ha
ve achieved high quality, making them a benchmark in the field. He mentioned that this meeting was preceded by a successful convening of the ASBU Executive Office for Emergency Affairs.

Engineer Suleiman praised the activities of ASBU’s member organizations, noting the union’s significant progress in news and program exchanges over the past year, particularly in covering ongoing events in Gaza and other Palestinian territories. He also stated that ASBU has continued to keep up with the latest technological developments and enhance its engineering services to member organizations, positioning it as one of the leading active organizations in the audiovisual media field worldwide.

The meeting reviewed ASBU’s activities over the past year, which included news and program exchanges, coverage of major events within and outside the Arab region, as well as training and investment initiatives.
