Special Envoy of Minister of Foreign Affairs for Climate Change and Sustainability Participates in Panel Discussion on Global Climate Change in Berlin

A panel discussion on global climate change and the importance of preserving the environment was held at the Arab Cultural House “Al Diwan” in Berlin, Germany, with the participation of HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Climate Change and Sustainability Ambassador Badr Omar Ismail Al Dafa, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Germany Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani, and a number of researchers and personalities from various environmental associations and institutes concerned with renewable energy in Germany.

The attendees exchanged ideas, opinions, and proposals regarding future projects, the role of states in educating people and future generations, and supporting innovation and appropriate scientific research to create a carbon-neutral environment.

The Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Climate Change and Sustainability highlighted Qatar’s efforts and plans for climate neutrality and energy transition, calling on the attendees to visit the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha Qatar, which will be held under the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment.” He said it would constitute a new opportunity to develop agriculture and green cities in Qatar and the Middle East.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Germany gave examples of environmentally friendly projects established by the state, such as electric buses, the metro, and the use of clean energy to cool stadiums, and the importance of these projects in increasing environmental awareness.

The session stressed the importance of continuing communication and joint coordination to achieve the greatest benefit possible for exchanging experiences and transferring knowledge.

Qatar ready to host the World Judo Championships – Doha 2023

Tashkent – The delegation of organizing committee of the World Judo Championship- Doha 2023 visited Tashkent, Uzbekistan to attend the 2022 World Judo Championships in the Uzbekistani capital this month.

 

The delegation, headed by Eid Al-Muraikhi – Chairman of the Sports Committee at the World Judo Championships – Doha 2023, was briefed on the experience of the host city of the 2022 edition to enhance knowledge transfer in preparation for the upcoming event in Doha.

 

Eid Al-Muraikhi lauding the level of the current edition in Tashkent on both organizational and technical levels, said “We were briefed, over the last few days, on Tashkent experience in this event which served as a window through which we have followed all the elements and sections of event organization and the visit will help us deliver a perfect edition next year.”

 

Most notably, the International Judo Federation (IJF) have praised Qatar’s preparations to host 2023 edition of World Judo Championships as the IJF President Mr. Marius Vizer has confirmed that the IJF will support the Qatar Judo Federation in organizing and exceptional edition of the world championships, especially after organizing 2021 Judo World Masters in Doha.

Nada Radwan wins women’s gold at Arab Golf Championship

Tunisia: Qatar’s Nada Radwan claimed the gold medal of women’s event at the 2022 Arab Golf Championships held in Tunisia with participation of 100 players from 11 countries.

 

Nada Radwan took the first place ahead of Alia Al Emadi of United Arab Emirates in the second place while Kenza Ladhari of Tunisia finished third.

 

Mohamed Faisal Al Naimi, Board Member of the Qatar Golf Association (QGA) congratulated Nada Radwan on her gold medal and stressed that team Qatar has showed a great level in the championship

The meeting featured previewing issues of common interest aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the sectors of trade, investment, and industry.

 

During the meeting, H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Industry highlighted the successful economic policies Qatar has put in place to support the private sector, and pointed out the incentives, legislations, and promising opportunities that are aimed at encouraging investors, businessmen, and business owners to invest in Qatar.

UAE condemns terrorist attack targeting soldiers in Djibouti

The UAE has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted military forces in Garabtisan in the Republic of Djibouti, which resulted in a number of dead and wounded soldiers.

 

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing security and stability in contravention of human values and principles.

 

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the government and people of Djibouti and to the families of the victims, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

Fares Ibrahim to participate in Asian Weightlifting Championship

Manama: The 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championship began in Manama, Bahrain on October 06.

 

Qatar’s 96-kilogram Olympic champion Fares Ibrahim will participate in the event after moving up to the 102s and will do battle with 2016 Olympic Champion Ruslan Nurudinov of Uzbekistan.

 

The event brings together 246 players from 33 countries including Qatar, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Iran, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, KSA, Kuwait, South Korea, Laos, Lebanon, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, UAE, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen and Bahrain.

Rashid Al-Athba qualifies to Paris 2024 Olympics

Osijek, Croatia: Qatar’s Rashid Al-Athba qualified to Paris 2024 Olympics after claiming the bronze medal of men’s skeet event at ISSF World Championship Shotgun 2022 in Osijek, Croatia on Sunday.

 

A perfect medal round saw Egypt’s Azmy Mehelba score 40 out of 40 to claim the skeet shooting world title.

 

Three-time Olympic gold medallist Vincent Hancock missed just one target midway through the medal match so could do nothing to prevent Mehelba from claiming a perfect hit in the final round.

 

Third placed Rashid Al-Athba of Qatar rounded out the podium.

 

Sweden’s Stefan Nilsson finished fourth but claimed a Paris 2024 quota place for his nation alongside Mehelba, Hancock and Al-Athba for Egypt, USA, and Qatar, respectively.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry issues report on special licenses for August 2022

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued its monthly report on special licenses for August 2022, with the number of licenses granted for sale for reduced prices (discounts, festivals, final liquidation, and loyalty customers) amounting to 64 licenses.

 

The report indicated that the number of offer licenses including: promotions, special offers, prize draw, and clear and win, amounted to 523 licenses last August: 53 licenses for companies on goods in malls and retail outlets, and 444 licenses for special offers including new prices, buy one and get one for free, and buy one and get one at half the price, etc. The report indicated that the number of licenses for prize draws granted last August was 26.

His Excellency Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry Participates in the 13th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum

His Excellency Mr Sultan bin Rashid Al-Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, participated today in the 13th edition of the Turkish-Arab Economic Forum, held in Istanbul, Turkey.

 

The 13th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum featured the participation of a number of ministers, senior Arab and Turkish government officials, bankers, and personnel of financial, business, and investment institutions in Turkey and other countries in the region, as well as regional and international finance and development institutions.

 

For his part, H.E. Mr. Sultan bin Rashid Al-Khater stressed in his speech at the Forum’s main session of the importance of this event, which comprises a prominent venue for exploring growth prospects for the global economy, in light of the current challenges, and also for discussing ways to consolidate the trade and investment partnership between the Arab countries and Turkey.

 

Qatar’s participation in the Forum stems from its deep belief that confronting any cross-border crisis can only take place jointly, based on the concerted efforts of the international community, H.E. stated. Moreover, Qatar is well-aware of the importance of partnership as a major guarantee for strengthening bilateral relations between countries, H.E. added, noting in this regard that Qatar viewed Turkey as a key strategic partner.

 

H.E. additionally praised the distinguished and close sibling relations between the two nations, founded on common denominators that have crystallized in light of the stands of solidarity and both sides’ similar visions in various fields. The said factors have positively reflected in the level of trade exchange between the two nations, as the volume of Qatari-Turkish trade exchange amounted to about 1.8 billion USD in 2021, and Qatar is home to more than 767 Turkish companies operating in various vital sectors.

 

The Turkish-Arab Economic Forum was convened for the first time in 2005, and has had 12 previous editions. The forum is a venue for discussing a number of economic issues of common interest between the Arab States and Turkey, as well as discussing ways to enhance and deepen economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.

 

The 13th edition of the Forum featured organizing four working sessions that focused on a number of important axes, including: the new pillars of the Turkish-Arab economic partnership, ways to overcome the current global geopolitical and economic challenges, trade development through investment in supply chains and logistics, new investment prospects in Turkey, and opportunities in the field of food security, as well as other vital topics.
