AviLease Completes Delivery of Four New A321neo Aircraft to Frontier Airlines


Riyadh, AviLease has successfully delivered four Airbus A321neo aircraft on lease to Colorado-based low cost operator Frontier Airlines. These are the first of six next-generation aircraft that will be delivered in 2024.

The Airbus A321neo is one of the most fuel-efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced narrow-body aircraft on the market. These deliveries set the tempo for AviLease, which is seeking to build a diverse portfolio of the most advanced, latest-generation narrow- and wide-body aircraft available, and an ever-increasing client portfolio.

KSrelief Distributes 1,367 Shelter Aid Bags in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


Islamabad, The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on Tuesday distributed 1,367 shelter aid bags in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

The assistance was provided to 9,569 individuals from vulnerable families residing in flood-affected areas, as part of the third phase of the 2024 relief materials and winter bags distribution project in Pakistan.

The initiative is part of the Kingdom’s ongoing humanitarian and relief endeavors, undertaken through its dedicated humanitarian arm, KSrelief, to support underprivileged and affected individuals across the globe.

Solomon Islands Choose Jeremiah Manele as New Prime Minister

The authorities in the Solomon Islands announced on Thursday the appointment of Jeremiah Manele as a new prime minister.

Governor General David Vunagi announced outside parliament house that Manele had won 31 votes to Opposition leader Matthew Wales’ 18 votes.

Manele praised the fact there was no repeat of past violence.

“The people have spoken,” he said. “We have shown the world today that we are better than that.” The elections in the Solomon Islands, located in the South Pacific Ocean, are usually intense. The archipelago has a population of around 720,000 people. The elections are closely monitored by both China and the United States due to their potential impact on regional security.

Qatar Chairs 6th Meeting of Heads of Communications Units of Gulf Police

The State of Qatar chaired the sixth meeting of the heads of communication units of the Gulf police, which was held in the UAE, on May 1 and 2.

Director of the communications department for Arab and international police at the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Mohammed Al AliChaired the meeting, while Qatar’s delegation was headed by Captain Ali Abdullah Al Hanzab.

The meeting addressed a set of initiatives, including the establishment of security databases, and enhancing means of communication and coordination between member states.

Bahrain condemns Israeli extremists attack on two Jordanian aid convoys to Gaza


Manama, The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the attack by extremist Israeli settlers on two Jordanian aid convoys carrying food and relief supplies to the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Abu Salem crossing and Beit Hanoun-Erez crossings, in a violation of international humanitarian law, international covenants, and all humanitarian and moral values.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Bahrain’s solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and its appreciation for its humanitarian and diplomatic efforts in supporting the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.

The Ministry also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in implementing international resolutions related to the immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the need to protect civilians and humanitarian relief workers, increasing the flow of humanitarian and relief aid to the population in a complete, safe, sustainable and unhindered manner, as well as putting an end to the w
orsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

United Nations: The war will push about 1.74 million Palestinians into poverty


Geneva – Together – After about 7 months of war in the Gaza Strip, two United Nations agencies warned of an increase in poverty rates in the Palestinian territories to reach 58 percent.



The United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia said in a joint report that the war will push about 1.74 million people into poverty.



He added that Palestine’s gross domestic product declined by a significant rate of 26.9 percent, with total losses exceeding $7 billion compared to what they were in 2023.



The report warned that continuing the war for 9 months would increase the poverty rate in Palestine to 60.7 percent.



The two organizations also expected the Palestinian gross domestic product to decline to 29 percent, with total losses of $7.6 billion, if the war continued for 9 months.

“Jerusalem Electricity” receives a delegation from the People’s Committee of Deir Ammar Camp


Jerusalem – Together – The Jerusalem Governorate Electricity Company – Ramallah and Al-Bireh Branch received a delegation from the Popular Committee of Deir Ammar Camp.



Engineer Thaer Jaradat, the company’s director in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, discussed with the People’s Committee of Deir Ammar Camp, in the presence of the Chairman of the People’s Committee, Dr. Hassan Safi, and the committee member, Mr. Arafat Zaid, a number of issues related to the electrical network in the camp.



The committee presented a shield of thanks to the company, which was received by Engineer Thaer Jaradat, in appreciation of its efforts in addressing the weak electrical current and rehabilitating the networks in the camp.

PNU Concludes 1st GCC Sports Tournament for Female Students in Universities and Higher Education Institutions


Riyadh, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) concluded the first sports tournament for female students from universities and higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The tournament featured competitive tennis, badminton, futsal, and volleyball events, culminating in a coronation ceremony for the top-performing universities.

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) secured first place in tennis, with Qatar University taking second place. King Saud University claimed third place in the same category.

King Abdulaziz University emerged victorious in badminton, while PNU secured second place, and UDST achieved third place.

PNU also claimed first place in futsal, a football-based game played on a hardcourt, followed by UDST in second place, and the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in third place.

PNU was crowned champion in the volleyball championship, with UDST in second place and Qatar University in third place.

Princess Noura Un
iversity hosted the tournament from April 26 to May 1, 2024, marking a historic moment for female athletes in GCC universities. This first-of-its-kind event, the largest in the Gulf for female university competitors, aimed to ignite a passion for sports among female students and build stronger ties between universities across the region.

This inaugural edition sets the foundation for future tournaments, which will be held biennially, in line with the GCC Vision’s objectives of sports excellence, inspiring Gulf youth through sports, and developing a talented generation of athletes to represent the Gulf in international sports forums.

New Book Records History of Qatari Support for Palestinian Cause

Doha: May 2 – Rosa Publishing House recently released a new book entitled “Qatar and the Palestinian Issue… Positions Recorded by History” by the writer and poet Ali Al Masoudi.

The book traces the history of Qatari support for the Palestinian cause, from the beginning of the Nakba in 1948 until the current aggression against the Gaza Strip, and highlights chapters of Palestinian steadfastness in the face of the Israeli occupation. Explaining the crimes and what were the signs of Qatari support for the Palestinian cause from the first moments of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories, the origin of the strong political relations between Qatar and Palestine, the Qatari reference that motivated the beginning, and the introductions that represented the roots of Qatari support for the Palestinian cause at all levels.

The book, which falls in 468 pages, deals with aspects of comprehensive Qatari support for the Palestinian cause, at various levels: politically, economically, sports, and media.

Qatar University to Celebrate Graduation of 47th Batch on May 8

Doha: Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar University (QU) will celebrate its graduation ceremony for the 47th batch of students on Wednesday, May 8.

In a statement released by QU, the graduation ceremony will include graduates of the following academic degrees: bachelor’s, diploma, master’s, doctorate, and doctor of pharmacy, from semesters: Summer 2023, Fall 2023 and Winter 2024, in addition to those who are expected to graduate by the end of Spring 2024.

The total number of graduates this year is 3738 graduates, which includes 2373 Qatari graduates. The number of distinguished graduates reached 608, including 129 male and 479 female graduates.

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will honor the distinguished male graduates at the students’ graduation ceremony. The distinguished female graduates will be honored by HH Consort of HH the Amir Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al-Thani at the ceremony for distinguished female students on May 9.

Vice President
for Student Affairs Dr. Eiman Mustafawi stated: “The graduation of 3738 male and female students this year reflects QU’s commitment to its role in shaping a new generation of learners and qualified individuals ready to engage in the job market and contribute to nation-building.

“We believe that each graduate has a unique success story that represents the challenges they have faced and the achievements they have made during their academic journey, which will be reflected in the role they will play in the development and prosperity of society”, she added.

Dr. Mustafawi noted that the organizing committee of the graduation ceremony completed all the essential arrangements and preparations. The graduates were contacted, and invitations were sent to graduates and their families via e-mail.

The various teams and committees organizing the ceremony confirmed their full readiness and eagerness to provide services for graduates and respond to their inquiries through various means, including university accounts on so
cial media platforms, the Student Call Center and e-mail. In addition, a dedicated website is available as a reference, which includes all the information related to the details of the ceremony, dates and various information.

She said: “We are proud of the Class of 2024 and wish them a bright future filled with opportunities, challenges, and experiences that will refine their skills and enable them to achieve their dreams. We encourage them to continue developing their skills and abilities, and to actively contribute to building both society and the nation.”
