Over 500 Facilities Inspected in Madinah Ahead of Pilgrims’ Arrival in the Post-Hajj Season

Madinah: The National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) has inspected over 500 facilities in Madinah to determine whether they meet environmental standards.

The inspection tours covered the period before and during the arrival of pilgrims to the Prophet’s Mosque after completing their Hajj rituals.

To maintain environmental health, NCEC has conducted 24/7 monitoring. Field teams have been constantly on duty, and residents can report any environmental concerns via a dedicated hotline, calling 988. Inspections are conducted using specialized apps and portable monitoring devices for efficient data collection. All information is then analyzed centrally to closely track environmental indicators and ensure prompt action if necessary.

NCEC prioritizes the well-being of pilgrims, not least through measuring the air quality. Fixed and mobile stations assessing air quality have been strategically placed around areas frequented by pilgrims to monitor pollutants around the clock. If any source of pollution is
identified, NCEC swiftly addresses the issue by submitting reports to the relevant authorities, who then take the measures needed to stop the pollution.
