Over Million Smart Cards and 17 Technical Services to Enrich Visitors’ Experience in Madinah

Madinah: To enrich the experience of pilgrims and visitors in Madinah, the General Presidency of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CPVPV) has implemented a comprehensive plan. This plan includes five awareness centers and field points in Al-Baqi’, Al-Shuhada, Quba, Al-Miqat, and Badr. The CPVPV has also partnered with relevant authorities to provide advanced technological services, from welcoming visitors at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport and the Haramain High-Speed Railway station to assisting them around the Prophet’s Mosque expansion until their departure.

These services are enhanced by 17 quality technologies, including the “Mabroor” app (available on both major operating systems), the Hajj and Umrah platforms, an interactive digital platform, 3D augmented reality, QR codes, a chatbot service, Wi-Fi, NFC technology, interactive maps, and the “Shawahid” (Witnesses) initiative. These services offer educational content comprising over 1,303 text, audio, and
visual materials translated into 15 languages. The CPVPV has also launched the “Tamkeen” (Empowerment) initiative to enable its qualified staff to communicate in sign language with non-Arabic-speaking pilgrims.

To ensure service quality, the CPVPV has assigned approximately 160 field, administrative, and translation staff with relevant expertise to serve visitors. Additionally, 1,240,000 smart cards containing educational content and a unified service provider number have been allocated to further enhance the visitor experience.
