President of Religious Affairs Appreciates Royal Directive to Shorten Friday Prayer Sermon at Two Holy Mosques until End of Summer

Makkah: The President of the Religious Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, has expressed his gratitude for the royal directive to reduce the duration of the Friday prayer sermon at the Two Holy Mosques to around 15 minutes.

The directive also includes delaying the first call to prayer to create a 10-minute gap between the first and second calls to prayer.

This change started from today’s sermon, Friday 12/15/1445 AH, and will continue until the end of the summer season.

Dr. Al-Sudais emphasized that this decision reflects the sincere concern of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince for the pilgrims’ well-being, comfort, and safety, adding that this adjustment aims to alleviate any discomfort caused by high temperatures and facilitate the rituals for the visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.

Dr. Al-Sudais further stated that this directive demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the ease
of performing rituals for the pilgrims and visitors, especially considering the large number of people visiting the Grand Mosque, including the elderly and the weak, and the challenging weather conditions.

He praised the Kingdom’s dedication to safeguarding humanity and protecting individuals from harm.
