Saudi Arabia Showcases Space Sector Progress at COPUOS


Vienna: Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) and the Saudi Space Agency (SSA), participated in the 67th session of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), held in Vienna from June 19 to 28, 2024.

The delegation hosted a “Saudi Towards Space: Igniting the Space Sector” meeting attended by over 80 leaders and specialists to discuss collaborative opportunities to advance the global space industry. The delegation showcased Saudi Arabia’s space sector progress, supported by national leadership, and its sustainability efforts, including the Space Debris Conference and participation in international forums.

Space exploration was also a topic, with Saudi Arabia highlighting its successful mission toward space, which included conducting 14 educational experiments, and the development of its space sector’s regulatory framework. Discussions focused on strengthening international partnerships to support space activities, promoting the Kingdom’s d
evelopment efforts, and stimulating research and innovation.

This participation underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to international collaboration for the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space.
