Futoshi Saito Joins as President & General Manager, Japan

Ministry of Interior said in a statement that Major Sharaf Ali Jawdat Deeb, a member of the Special Tasks Unit in al-Hasaka governorate, martyred as a result of his injuries while carrying out his national duty in al-Hasaka governorate.

Damascus University acquires international accreditation from WFME

Damascus University obtained recognized accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), Ministry of Higher Education and Research announced.

Damascus University is the first Syrian one to recieve such accreditation, Rector of the university Mohammed Ossama Jabban said, adding that this is a great breakthrough that remarkably contributes to recognizing the certificate of the Faculty of Medicine here internationally.

Rector Jabban hoped success to the rest of the Syrian universities in their pursuit of such achievements.

This accreditation ensures that a graduate of the medical faculty can exercise their profession worldwide and also guarantees their pursuing the specialization and academic achievement abroad, al-Jabban noted.

Hungarian PM: There is “No Urgency” to Ratify Sweden’s NATO Accession

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Monday there is “no urgency” to ratify Sweden’s accession to NATO.

Speaking in parliament to open the autumn session, the Hungarian leader said: “There is no urgency from the government to push for support regarding Sweden’s NATO accession, and Sweden’s security is not under threat.” In May 2022, following Russia’s announcement of its military operation in Ukraine, Sweden applied for NATO membership, alongside Finland, which last April became the 31st member of NATO.

ZATCA Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle 114.973 kg of Hashish in Rub Al-Khali Border Crossing

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 114.973 kilograms of hashish, hidden in a vehicle that entered the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through Rub Al-Khali border crossing.

ZATCA stressed that it will continue to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports, in cooperation and constant coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, to ensure the security and protection of the society from criminal activities.

ZATCA urges all citizens to contribute to combating smuggling, and protect society and the national economy by reaching out to the designated number for security reports: 1910; via e-mail: 1910@zatca.gov.sa; or the international number: 00966114208417. Through these channels, ZATCA receives reports related to smuggling and violations of the provisions of the unified customs system in complete confidentiality, with a financial reward given to the informer if the tip proves true.

First Museum Professional Association Established in Riyadh

The National Center for Non-Profit Sector has approved the establishment of the first Museum Professional Association, which will be based in Riyadh.

Princess Haifa bint Mansour bin Bandar bin Mansour will chair the board of directors of the association. Members of the boards will be: Vice President Dr. Tahani Almahmood, Financial Supervisor Laila Alfaddagh, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qahtani, Nora AlGosaibi, Sarah Al-Omran and Nora Al-Zamil.

The newly appointed chairperson of the board of directors said that the new association will manage and guide museums, and nurture an environment where pioneering, innovation and professional development are encouraged. She added that the association will attract and support professional talent, organize training programs, provide tools and resources, honor artistic achievements and facilitate communication among professionals.

The Museum Professional Association is established based on the Ministry of Culture strategy for the non-profit sector, adopted by the Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, which aims at building a diverse system of non-profit organizations comprising 16 professional associations in 13 cultural sectors throughout the Kingdom.

Students from various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been celebrating the 93rd National Day Under the slogan “We Dream and Achieve”.

As part of the celebrations, there were drawing and coloring activities, art exhibitions, performance of patriotic songs and poems, competitions, sports games, and visits to archaeological sites.

Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan and Governor of the Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz joined the students of Saqr Quraish primary school in Riyadh who celebrated the national day.
