QATAR MUSEUMS PARTICIPATE IN WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

Doha, – Qatar Museums (QM) participated today in marking World Autism Awareness Day by lighting up in blue the exteriors of two Qatar Museums (QM) institutions including the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) and the Doha Fire Station.

QM’s institutions will join other world famous landmarks that will be lit up in blue for the occasion. HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), was the first to propose celebrating a global day for autism. The proposal was made in 2007 and was passed and adopted by the UN General Assembly without a vote. April 2 of 2008 saw the first international celebration of the event, with the goal of raising awareness of the disease. (QNA)
